Colt Eprom in Talon
Hey guys I recently got a colt EPROM ECU. Was told it is identical to the 1st gen ECU's. What all needs to be done for it to work in my car?
I'm assuming get a different chip programmed..

If im not mistaken the colt didnt come with a 4g63 so the ecu will probally not be the same as what is in your 1g. But i could be wrong, ive never heard of anybody using 1 but you never know.

It looks identical to the 1st gen. Plugs in percectly, and was told this ECU was used in a 90 talon to trouble shoot problems.

Yeah it is. But I stuck it in my car and it did not fire. This is a good ECU. So I'm wondering if I need it re programmed or?

As long as it was from a 4g61t it will work, it's just the mas and injectors are smaller and you need to compensate for that some how, either with a safc or chip.

I've heard that they were supposed to plug and play. REALLY could use a wiseman or something on this one buut...
The Eprom I have: MD131842 1989 Mirage DOHC FWD TURBO E2T34376 Federal
When I turn the key to ON, the check engine light comes on and stays on, and the stock boost gauge immediately goes all the way to its highest mark...
I have switched wires 6 and 14 and still no start.. ANY ideas?

The colt gt/migare wiring harness is the same as '90 eclipse/talon/laser so you do not need to switch the pins. Are you sure the ECU is not bad?

I was told it came out of a running colt that had been 4g63 swapped. I'm thinking maybe the chip is messed up?
I should be getting a chipped programmed and sent up to me sometime soonish and hopefull that solves the problem..?

Is it an eprom? Do you know what it was chipped for if it is? If it came from a 4g63 that was running fine, there should be no reason it doesn't just start right up.

It DEFINATELY is Eprom. I've taken it apart a couple times to inspect it. Nothing seems wrong or out of place.

What condition are the caps in on the board? The capacitors are known to leak on to the board, causing the ecu to work funny, or not work at all.
