What made you pick a t28?

A few things actually, Wanted a good street turbo and i ready that the Big T28 can produce pretty good #'s ... Easy swap/direct fit, Didnt think i will need more than 350hp just easier i guess plus its mostly my winter car..

Anyone know whats the max boost i can set it at? and how much power gains i should be expecting, i only ask because im a little confused...Some of the forums here say It should be 15psi max with my current mods and some i read it says it should be safe at 18psi..

My current mods are:

3 inch Cat back, Downpipe+T Pipe.

MBC, Boost Gauge, Oil Temp, Oil Press.

Walbro 190FPL, re-wired..

HKS BOV, recirc. And 57mm Throttle Body w/ half shaft mod..

Future Mods will be:

Definately Front mount Intercooler/Piping.. possibly injectors and probably go with DsmChips to tune.

You are going to be running your stock injectors to the max. I would suggest getting some bigger ones and something to tune with.

Hell yeah, show them what the DSM's are all about. My friends say the same with my gst. Car looks normal, until they hear the bov. WTF

I love my t28, because it looks factory under the hood and thats what i tell everyone it is, of course an FP Race mani doesn't help as it isnt' very factory looking haha none the less its sweet.
with out tuning you will be running your injectors past normal operating percentages. we logged a run with a 190 and stock injectors on a 19psi and injector duty was right around 97%. I have 750s now but haven't put them in.

So, what is a safe boost level for the time being then?? Oh and I forgot to mention A stage 1 clutch Will be on its way as well!!

i dunno why anyone upgrades turbos really i had a 14b on my 91 tsi and it ran 22 lbs of boost n o porb never had a problem for 2 years. can anyone fill me in here i just got a 94 why upgrade turbos??

dont let anyone knock that t28 man LOL. thats a 12 second turbo all day. i ran the time in my profile with my old t28, and there was more left in it. switched to a 30r, needed more top end LOL.

I been hearing great reviews on it, I hope I like it like i said theres some reasons why I chose to go with T28 setup.. What were all the supporting mods did you have to run 12's on your T28 ILLiCliPSE ??

A 14b is a 12 sec turbo with some special gas and the right tuning(actually 10 sec but that's way out the norm). I don't believe that you have to keep boost stock but you have to invest in either a logger or someway to monitor the things people are telling you to watch out for. You need to keep an eye on IDC(Injector duty cycle) knock and even though it's extra egt is never a bad thing to look out for. As long as your not overworking your injectors and no knock is present than your fine to up the boost untill that's not the case. Every car is different so there's no set psi for x setup but I wouldn't mess with anything over 12-15psi.

Yeah, Im aware and all that I just dont have some kind of logger yet so thats why i ask what would be a safe number to stay under for boost control
