Alright, I am putting a new injen intake on my car, and I have to remove the air can for it to fit.
Since it's going to be out in the open, do I need to buy a new filter, Say a K&N one?
Or can I use my stock paper filter on it.
Would the paper one fall apart because its not protected in the air can?
I know its kinda an oxy moron to use a cheap filter, but it will be temporary. Is this okay?

I will always recommend upgrading to a better filter. But, for the mean time it will not be a problem. Your paper filter will be just fine.

Any filter is technically better then none, as long as it doesn't get sucked in to the turbo : \ Seen that happen not long ago to a guy at the local shop.

I would not worry about it getting sucked into your engine. if you have looked into a stock filter there is perforated metal separating the paper element from the inside of the filter. Then you have the MAS which has honeycombs in it. Then if it even gets that far you have the turbo which will cut it down to itty bitty pieces and even then you still have to make it through the intercooler.

I have run my car prior to getting the 2g MAS this way and have not had any problems.

Just make sure and check up on the filter every once and a while just to make sure everything is still intact.

EDIT:
OOoops, Just realized you were N/T...

It still has to go through the MAS!

Haha, Thank you so much.
I just showed this to my dad who was yelling at me prior "The internet people don't know shit" he was saying.
I was like... "This guy runs 13's I'm gonna trust him."
Now he was just like... "Well you know I don't know anything anyways"
ROFLROFLROFL
Thank youuuu.

I did the exact same thing for about 2 months. But i went to my basement and ripped out an old metal screen and cut it to fit around my intake filter. This is so nothing happens to cut it open allowing sand and debris to get into the combustion chamber. Yes i know... ima cheapass.. but then i bought a k/n when i had the money.

My dad keeps saying its gonna get wet and the paper will get sucked into the engine.
Ask him what happens to all that rain coming through the grille and up into the filter when you pass a truck on the freeway. Filter elements are designed to deal with water. See if you can flush one down a toilet.

I'm probably older than your dad. I don't mean him any disrespect. These damned kids just get on my nerves.

Go wild. Spend the fifteen bucks for an eBay K&N copy.
