Ok, been searching for a long time for a 6 bolt built motor and found a few but they where very far away, this one is no exception but is a 2.4L long block. I'd be getting it for around 2k (no turbo or manis). It has 2k miles on it and has seen track time at 24 lbs of boost. My worry is that i might buy a messed up motor and not know it.

Is there anything that i should look for that would hint to damage? Or am i just gonna have to take a risk at getting burned for 2 grand? pretty much have no way to take it to a shop before buying it.

2k is a standard priece that I've been seeing on enignes. Are you buying it sight unseen or can you go look at it before. Also I wouldnt buy an engine if they dont have it maped an blueprinted an built by a shop that you can call an get the info on. Get alot of pics of it before. Tell them if you cant get there an see it take 6 pics of each side on it. If they wont take tthe time to do that for you then there hidding something. Also pay by visa. If somehting is wrong you can always claim it with visa to get your money back. Visa will do all the dirty work to get there money back for the guy.

Not trying to cause an argument with this one, but how many of us really keep every receipt for our cars? I know that I usually dont even think about filing every receipt away. Especially if it is something that I dont originally plan to part with and I am going to be using for a while.

My advice would be dont worry to much about the receipt part of it. Inspect before you buy it and if you have a gut feeling that you are going to get screwed than dont get it. I always follow my gut on big buys like this and wouldnt think twice about saying no if I got a wierd vibe from the guy. :thumb:
