OK so im taking a road trip down to NC tomorrow and im driving the eclipse down. It;s going to be a 6 hour drive and around 400 miles. Now i plan on staying out of boost pretty much the whole way down there and only doing 65mph. SO do you guys think the car will be fine? Im going to stop every hour for 10 min to let it cool down just a bit but im really concerned about something breaking =[ Has anyone every gone this kinda distance? Is it safe to drive the car down there?

If you're up to date with maintenance, the car can go a pretty long distance without stopping. You shouldn't have to let it cool off or anything like that.

altho goin 65 mph it will take u forever LOL. but na u shouldt have a problem with ## car man just keep an eye on temp gage. thats what i always do LOL.

u should be fine :thumb::thumb:

When I bought my car this past June, I bought it from an individual in Chicago and drove it back down with no problems at all, I only stopped maybe 3 times. It was a 9 hour drive with a slight oil leak and the radiator fan was broken, not to mention I had no idea what kind of maintenance had been done nor how neglected the car was. I didn't even know the radiator fan was broken till the next day when I got to look over everything.

i would buy an extra quart of oil, coolant and a long fuel line hose just incase one snaps all just incase. also use cruise control as much as possible it will help keep you from boost. i took my car from Jax, FL to Orlando about 2 and half hours non stop and did fine just used cruise control the whole way down

400 miles, 1 stop, done it 3 times so far, doing another next saturday

I go to school in maine, and from nj its about 6 or 7 hours (depending on the stop)
you can look at my mods (minimal) just dont boost a lot and u'll be fine :thumb:

Good luck. I'll be driving my Talon to NC next month. To keep the boost down I have the ball bearing from the MBC in a coffee cup.

And yes the Talon regularly goes multiple fill ups without breaking down. That is if you don't count the red pool under the transmission. The headliner doesn't even droop any more since it's been ripped out. At least the drive won't be boring.

Yeah - I don't understand either. Every DSM breaks down every 500 miles?

I drive mine all the time. Check my profile for mods. Lafayette, IN to Washington DC. 800 Miles One way.

As long as you have no leaks, watch your temperature and oil pressure. If you have no leaks you'll have no problem.

If your car breaks down all the time I wouldn't drive it.. but I regularly go back and forth to Indy (65+ Miles one way) and I beat on her all night and then drive her home. No one trusts their build quality huh?

Much older cars have driven much further distances. Like everyone said just make sure everything is in good working order and take an emergency toolkit just in case.

I wouldn't worry about it. Keep your eye on the oil pressure and water temp. Bring the essentials. Quart of oil, coolant, tool bag/box with common sizes of wrenches and sockets. I took my car on a 300 mile trip just a week after rebuilding my engine. Talk about freaking out!! And I drive it daily now and I have not had any "major" malfunctions yet.

I drove 5 hrs from NY to VA hopped on the auto train..then drove from orlando to tampa which is another 2 hrs. If your car isnt a crap box youll be fine.
