I recently went through and tightened all my IC clamps and removed the MAf and cleaned it. After getting everything back together and tightening it down, it seems as if there is a chirping and screeching sound at idle coming from the MAF area. The sound might be traveling from somewhere else but it seems pretty loud in that area. This only occurs at idle and very light throttle input, i mean at around 3% throttle. it also doesnt occur right after startup, but rather after the car has been idling for a couple minutes.

Take off your intake pipe and check to see if the compressor wheel of your turbo is making contact with the housing, and check for shaft play. A little side to side is ok, but in and out is bad.

very little shaft play left to right and none in and out.... the sound seems to get worse as the car heats up

Try to determine exactly where the sound is coming from using a piece of hose as a "stethoscope". Is the sound a quick, staccato chirp, or does it last any measurable amount of time? Is there anything loose in the MAF creating a whistle? Listen to things that specifically have moving parts, like your BOV for instance. Maybe you have a vac line or diaphragm problem that is causing the BOV to flutter or chirp a bit. Just poke around with the hose until you pinpoint it.

I thought maybe it was the BOV, ill try the hose method. When I start the car you hear nothing at idle for like 5 minutes then after the car warms up you start to hear chirping, like a cricket. After the car is fully warmed up the noise is more constant, almost like a screeching whistle. It is loud enough to be heard by someone standing 20 ft away if they really listen

The funny thing is this noise never occured until I decided to clean the maf and tighten all my IC connections...

Double check all your vac lines and make sure that nothings loose or has a hole in it. Might have torn a coupler when reinstalling everything, so do a boost leak test. What kind of BOV is it? If it's a GReddy, try adjusting the spring loose, then tight, and see if it goes away.

I had an odd problem with a whistle/vibration early this year and never figured out what it was. I would hear it during off throttle deceleration, and when I got to a certain psi in my boost leak tests. I could feel my mbc vibrating during the BLT's, so I took it apart, cleaned it thoroughly, and reinstalled. That did not fix it. Then my bottom end let go, so I have had bigger fish to fry LOL

I had the exact same problem... After i would let my car idle it would start chirping and it turns out that it was my greddy upper pipe rubbing against something... if i would put my hand and firmly grab any part of the upper pipe the chirping sound would go away....go figure

hmm ill keep those in mind. i tried tightening the Greddy spring and that didnt make a difference. Imthinking the bov is the culprit though, and its sending the noise out through my air filter
