The Motor Is Gonna Be Built Somewhat STOCK.
Imma Keep The Stock Rods And Pistons But Use Total Seal Rings, Remove The Balance Shafts, Bore Out The Cylinders 20 Over, New Main And Rod Bearings And Tighten Everything Down With ARP Hardware (rod bolts, main studs, and head bolts)

As Far As The Exterior Theres Alot To Be Done.
It Was Sitting Outside During Hurricane Katrina And Wilma.
I Figured Why Not Just Completly Restore It.
Imma Be Painting It And Installing New Badging And All The Factory Decals As Well As The Usual Tints And Stuff. Some Light Covers Too.

Couple Dings Here And There.
I Gotta Order The Side Trims From The Dealer Cause I Just Cant Seem To Find Them Anywhere.
Gotta Get All The Decals Like EAGLE TALON TSI And The 16V DOHC TURBO ALL WHEEL DRIVE Remade At Some Vinyll Shop There Cause Those Are Also Imossible To Find.

I was alluding to that, yes. You fit rings to bores, and bores get fit to pistons. You don't need any boring if your cylinder walls look good, just a hone. Boring .02 for displacement will get you an extra 20cc's of engine (2.02L) Nothing to crow about : )

You should also know that it's strongly suggested to resize the rods when new rod bolts are used, especially stronger ones like ARPs. I think some places say mandatory. I didn't do it in one V8 engine I built, but that thing never ran. Didn't feel like it was seizing up, but I guess I'll never know.

Take some interior shots for me, I'm debating on if I can tolerate having all that junk out of it. I'm worried it will look stupid. I guess who cares if it's fast, but I dunno...

Yeah I Dont Think The Walls Are To Bad. What I Can See Is Good.
As Soon As I Get The Motor Out Ill Take Some Pics And Stuff.

Why Would Rod Bolts Make Such A Difference Where Ill Need Bigger Rods??

You don't need bigger rods, it's just that the way they go together, new rod bolts (not sure, but I think even at the same torque level) distort the shape of the big end of the rod. Like I said, I think most people just run them, and you might want to discuss this with a vendor or a compitant machinist before hand.

Don't the stock rods fail before the bolts go? It might be cheap insurance, but it's a bit of a PITA if you don't have to go through it.

Ever Seen That Episode Of Pimp My Ride Where They Buy The Guy A New Car Instead Of Fixing His Old One?? Well Thats Pretty Much What I Did. I Kept All Reuseable Parts I Had On The Talon And Bought Me A Bone Stock 91 GSX :dsm: (complete with intake can and dildo shift knob) LOL. Imma Start A New Build And Post Up All The Things I Do.

R.I.P TSi AWD!

AG..... Tkelly is on the ball, if you install new rod bolts into your stock rods they will need to be resized.
with the knocking out of the old rod bolts and pressing in of the new arp rod bolts, you distort the rod bearing housing bore. it will be no longer round but more of an egg shape.
the diffrence between good and bad is .0007 of a thoundsanth

rod bearing housing bore spec on a 6 bolt 1g 4g63 1.7710/1.7717 from the clevite bearing catalog

Heres Pretty Much What I Got Going On. ALL ORIGINAL

Has the basic matinace been kept up on the car?
time belt water pump replaced? oil changes kept up?

The Guy Who Sold It To Me Said He Did Everything But Imma Go Ahead And Do All The Maintenance Myself Cause You Can Never Be Sure. He Also Said The Car Has A 4 Bolt Rear With LSD Diff And A Cometic Head Gasket. Not Sure Of Any Of That.

IS THIS AN LSD DIFF??

The Car Has ABS And Its Said That 90-91 AWD Cars With ABS Dont Have LSD Diffs. Unless The Guy Really Did Put One In
