Hey guys, does anyone know if any type of glue, etc is used on on the underneath of the pad right after the A/C high pressure fill nipple? I've been tracing a leak and came across this possible leak once I removed the pad on the high pressure line. I have dye injection in the system and took a light to this area but it doesn't seem to be doing much, might be in part because it's now dry and crusty, so I'm not sure if this is glue from the factory, etc, or else possible dry dye which would point to my souce of leak. The cars apart right now, so I can exactly run it and I've used all my 134 :(

It just seems kinda odd that the leak would be where the pad was since I would have though it would have protected it, but then again the pad was probably placed there because it was aknow mitus issue and and placed there as a bandaid LOL

That's glue. Look at the service port though, I think I see dye there. Those valves DO leak occasionally.

Ya that's dye on the service port. Some came out from injecting and seeing if there was any pressure so I can say the die is there from a leak.

It's still hard to say if it's glue or dried dye. It's really crusty and not applied evenly. Is it normal for glue to be used on the lines when the car is assymbeled?

Yes for $140 they injected dye, vacuumed the system, etc. They said it's holding a charge and cooling and if the leak was still there is must be the evaporater, and after taking everything apart I think they might be right. It's hard to tell for sure since I had to wiggle the evaporater out but it looks like it might have been leaking on the inside portion of the evaporater connection. Looks like a expensive piece to replace and figured whatever caused this one to break will just break the next so I pulled it out. It's actually heavier then most claim, my guess is about 10 pounds but I'll see if I can weigh everything once it's out. (correction: the condensor and evaporator weigh 16 pounds combined, still working on removing the compressor.

Anyone have any tips for removal of the compressor on a FWD? Still not sure if I want to remove it from the top or the bottom, till then it's time to put the dash back togeather... :|

Yeah. It's a shop that doesn't know DSM AC systems. Your problem is that the AC control unit has died. They are no longer made. It lives on the evaporator, behind the glovebox. Happy hunting.

You mean the valve? I pulled the whole evaporater out. It looks like it might have been leaking where the pipe from the evaporater connects to the fitting to the firewall. It's all pulled out now, just trying to figure out how to remove the compressor. Kinda tired some moving the rest of the system out that the compressor can probably wait a few weeks LOL I'll just unplug it's harness for now. If there a fuse I should remove too for the compressor?
