I have a 91 talon Tsi FWD 5 speed. I installed the passenger side driveshaft with EASE! but when I goto install the drivers side(long driveshaft) I cant get it to "hook Up" inside the tranny. by this i mean, with the slightest pull on the shafts it falls out and Im back at square one. yes I made sure that the teethe were lined up and I give it a good shove and it seems to connect but then when I do a slight pull it comes out. The short shaft is in there really good and you have to tug on it pretty good to come out. any ideas on how to get this long drive shaft to "hook in"

did you make sure the locking pin was on the inner joint before you put it in normally you should have to give it a little tap in order for it to lock

and if the ring is there are you sure your getting it all the way in? they slide in quite a bit but to lock ya gotta be kinda rough with it

see thats what im having trouble with...I cant get it to snap. yes the ring is on there...should i use wheel bearing grease or oil or gear lube or something to assist the shaft in?

what i usually do is get it to go in as far as possible, pull back just a bit and slam it in, sorta like using a slide hammer but the opposite way. works everytime.

edit: but make sure it slides in enough that all the splines are lined up or you could damage them
