If I had a Stage 2 2.3L short block, all internals, and supportiong mods. What PTE turbo would you go with and why. Would you go with the 60trim or a 50trim? Would you port the inlet & outlet? Would you polish the compressor? Internal or external wastegate? Think of answering this as if you where answering your teacher, they wouldn't accept an answer if you can't back it up with details. Thanks :thumb:

WTH is a "stage 2" block? Sorry, it's just that I don't speak Honda...

Anyways, your goals for the car and willingness to compromise will really determine what turbo is right for you. The PTE 5031RE is a very popular turbo for good reason, it has a good balance between flow and spool but it most likely won't get you to 530awhp. The 60 trim isn't as popular, but then again is gross overkill for most street driven cars, and in my opinion not the best choice at that level.

the pte dbb 50 trim. it has great street manners spools quick and is great pump gas turbo. with the fact that you can get about 500 awhp out of it. yea that would be my choice.:dsm::thumb:

On my stock bottom end I picked the PTE5031E. I originally wanted the dbb version but didn't have the funds available. However, I am more than happy with what I have. Good street manners with lots of power. Internally gated, basic street tune, and 20 psi has gotten me around the 300hp mark. Full spool around 3700-3800 on stock block.

However, if you are looking for well over 500hp, you will want bigger.

Btw, those "Stages" are shop specific. Anywhere other than those sites or in those garages, they don't mean anything. But they do give us other guys a good laugh.

So what if a certain company has a "stage X"? You either need to specify exactly whose stage 2 you have or what your internals are. For someone demanding details in responses, you don't give many in your original post. Most 50trims will never get you to 530awhp, nevermind above it. That territory on a 2.3 seems to be around where most people agree a GT30R maxes out at. The standard accepted 50trim wheel flows 49 lb/min (or is rated at that at least), which would mean on a well set up car with a good tune you might see 500hp. The 30R wheel is rated at 52lb/min, but people have logged more airflow than that on a few occasions and it has dyno'd in the 550's a few times, albeit in FP3052 spec, not a PTE bolt on. If you have your heart set on 530+ hp then a 50 trim most likely will not cut it, you might need to go bigger. Also, the old saying if you have to ask... comes to mind.

EDIT: I see in the time it took me to reply the stage thing has been beat to death

A 50 trim WILL NOT get you to 500 awhp, unless you're Dre running some magical pump gas juice. That's almost like saying that people can replicate what SBR did with 400 awhp on a 16G. Given the proper setup on pump gas, I would say shoot for no less than an FP3065, GT35R, BWS258+,HX40+, etc.

DWR-DSM, I know that you're new to the site, but the guidelines still apply. We have a tremendous volume of information that you already asking, so look up to the top of the tool bar and use the search button. The answer is already here for you, just take a while to search for them. It sure as hell is a lot faster than waiting for people to respond to this thread/your threads.

Yea, you're car feels great at 20 psi. Whoever tuned it must be really awesome :p

Sry if I'm still stuck in my Honda terms, I still race one. So I'm hearing the 60trim would be a much better choice for me over the 50 trim. How much different would the DBB be from the from the oringnal version Skillz
