I have a turboxs type-H and I want to use it what would I have to do to my car to get it not to run rich and not to ilde bad?:dsm: I have just put on my FPR and I am going to put in 550cc injectors soon

If you don't want to recirculate the BOV, you will need to get a GM maf instead of the stock one. Remember to get something to tune your fuel from those 550s if you don't have it already, and you likely will need an upgraded fuel pump as well :thumb:

you don't necessarly needs a gm maf to vent your bov. YEAH, this is the better way to go but it's not absolutly indispensable. You just need a rushed bov or like you said you have, an aftermarket one. so the thing will not open at idle, so your car will not run like crap.... yeah some of the air will not be calculated but what???:dsm:

The open-BOV won't affect idle, it will affect the characteristics of when the throttle closes. The only way to prevent that is to switch to a system where the air isn't metered until after the BOV, ie a GM MAF set up or speed-density.

What are you going to use to tune your new injectors?

If you want to vent your BOV to atmosphere, use a GM MAF and Translator (which can be used to tune) or a speed density system. Venting without these tools will make your car run rich between shifts and anytime the valve is open (read: boost leak).

This has been covered so many times. There is a search function for a reason.
Thousands will argue that they have ran a vented BOV with no issues. For that thousand there will be 10,000 that say it makes you slower and causes issues.
If you want your car to go slower but make noise than vent atmospherically. If you don't really care for noise but want it to run right then recirc. Or just do like I did and get an HKS(real one), it's recirced and makes plenty of noise. IMO stay away from the MAFT too much of a pain in the ass. Just my .02 suckas

I have a aftermarket intake pipe and that works with the stock bov could I still use it. Cause u could put a valve cover breather on it and dont you think it would pick up air like that and then you could still run a aftermarket BOV.

so whats the final verdict? is it just bad in general to run a vented? or could you go with an MAFT? I will most likely be running 550s and a bov, just wondering how effective and how difficult it is to tune an MAFT. Thanks for the help guys.

It's kind of difficult to understand what you're saying here. I'm guessing that you're saying to put some sort of filter over the intake BOV recirc. If that's it, then no, still won't prevent you from running rich. When the BOV releases the pressure from the ICP, The computer knows to estimate for what's going into the intake pipe. Your ECU knows to correct for a certain amount of unmetered air, but if you just put a filter on there...it allows the engine to pull in as much unmeasured air as it wants.

I personally run a GM MAF, Translator, and an SAFC2. I compesate for injectors with the Translator and tune with the AFC. The only real reason I have the GM MAS is for the ricer in me...I like a loud BOV as well. :)

You could vent without a MAFT or speed density, but your engine won't function properly.

You could save weight by removing one of your wheels, too, but your car wouldn't handle quite as well.

Damn the choices.

if you want to vent your bov then do it right and buy the gm maf and maf translator or dont even bother...people sell these things on here all the time just check the classifieds

what is exactly speed density? its an other system without maf, and its map ?? i dont really understand! how much does it cost for a speed density setup and is it better than a maft and gm maf??

Speed density setups use a MAP, IAT, and tach signal to calculate air consumption. Most aftermarket engine management systems use speed density calculations for determining airflow.
