I just got my 1991 eagle talon tsi awd and at first it ran bad because i think it was sitting for a year. Now that it runs better i took it for a test drive and found out that when i floor it it smokes blue out the back. This was the 2nd day after pulling it out and the first run it has had in a while. could this be a bad turbo? the turbo is working fine it looks like it go's right up to about 14psi. Could this smoke just be because it has not been ran for a while? Thanks

Take the Air intake pipe off the Turbo and try to wiggle the Shaft in the turbo....if you have a lot of movement then your Turbo needs rebuilt.

You can also try a Compression test on the engine to see what condition the Piston Rings are in. They can also cause blue smoke

Change your oil just to be safe since you just bought the car

the three main posibilities for blue smoke are, blow by(bad piston rings), the turbo, and if neither of those two after you test for them, it could also be your valve stem seals.

If compression test comes out good, and the turbo doesn't have a lot of shaft play, pull off the exhaust manifold to see if any of the exhaust ports have oil in them. If they do, then I would say it's valve seals. I'm going through the same thing right now (my problem is valve seals).

its when i push on the gas for sure. im nervos to take off the vale thats on the turbo (im only 17)### i dont want to not be able to put it back on for some reason. is it bad to run it like it is because i could just iqnore it for now ?

Thats your decision. Check out Vfaq and check out the turbo rebuild. Or you can just get it rebuild. Someone near me rebuilds turbos for about 125 dollars and balances them too. Rebuilding the turbo is the easy part. They must be balance properly with a machine. Though you can balance put a turbo back into balance as best you can if you want to.

Depends on what your goals are for the car? if you plan on modding it within the next year then i would just buy a used 14b for cheap.

when i buy a 14b and people say a little bit of "play room" do you actulee want a little or for it not to move at all? or should i just skip the 14b and get a better one (one that will fit right in) and if so witch one?

ok i saw some stuff and im confused i have a 14b i think because i have a 5 speed (1991 eagle talon tsi awd).
so i was woundering can a 16b just bolt right on because im having a hard time finding a 14b

i have a 14b right?
