stupid COP issue

I got a COP set up and when I mounted it, it does not sit flat on the valve cover. I am using the intrepid coils, and the boot length is around 4.5" How do I get the boots to sit further onto the plugs? I am about 1.5" too high now. what am I missing or doing wrong?

I cut about 3/4 inch off the boots on mine, the little contact springs inside will compress inside the boots . . .

It's almost impossible to push it down by hand. Get it down as far as you can and let the bolts do the rest.
