will an n/a tranny work with a 4g63t?? I ask because im swapping a 4g63t into my 93 gs but the engine is out of a 90. From what i understand the 1ga trannys weren't that good so if leaving the n/a tranny is worth it ill just sell the 90 tranny.:dsm:

The AWD trans gearing is shorter ratio'd. As for the FWD gears, they are slightly taller on the top end. I believe that first and second gears on both trans are the same. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. And these are for the turbo'd FWD and AWD.

The 90 tranny is syncronized. The only time it is better to have a later tranny, is to have a late 91-92 rebuilt, it accepts double synchro gearsets eaisier.

A turbo tranny will be better for a FWD because it is taller geared and will not blow off the tires as easily.

either tranny will work fine, if you run the n/t tranny you will need to get an upgraded n/t clutch.

now put your damn car together.

I knew a guy at a tranny shop who thought it was the funniest thing to drop the n/a tranny in his turbo car. (all 1g, i just don't remember what years)

He said it torque steered like the dickens, and that he ran through (which I don't' remember) the gears really fast.

He laughed, had fun with it, and then I don't know why, but it blew up after about a year. Probably because he beat the day lights out of it.
