Ok, just finished getting the new motor in, but I had sold my fuel system not to long ago because I wasn't sure if I was going to sell it for a G35. Anyway just need to know if I will be able to break her in with her Evo 3 Big 16 on stock fuel by just lowering to boost to 10 psi with my hallmans manual boost controller. Can my boost controller even lower it to 10 I've never used it to lower it. Thx for the help in advance any help is appreciated.

Take the boost controller right off...run boost source directly to your wastegate. That will tell you what the spring in the wastegate is and that is your lowest boost setting.

You have a wideband....right???? Be real careful breaking in a motor on a setup that you dont know what its going to do. What form of tuning are you using?

Make sure to vary your rpms for the rings to seat properly and change your oil every 500 miles for the next 1000.

This is a VERY VERY VERY debateable topic....

I am a firm believer in a hard break in. I got the tune nice...little rich at 10.5:1 and then ran 16psi(approx 350whp) Ran it through the revs 4 or 5 times at part throttle slowly increasing a little more every time. Rev to 5000 first time and let it decel under compression and then up to 5500 and so on up to about 7500. Then i bagged the SHIT out of it and changed the oil after about 1 hour. Compression went from 130 across the board to 170-175 across the board. Car runs beautifully. No shavings in the oil or the filter. Completely fresh rebuild. New cams, rods, pistons, crank, bored...the whole 9 yards.

This is merely my opinion on the matter and is by no means the be all end all way to break in a motor. It is the best IMO.

I've always broken motors in by this method put I might just try a easy break in this time to compare the results. No wideband because my shop usally dyno tunes just down the road. current tuning is gm maf-t, safc II, and my keydriver chip.
