so while taking apart my stock manifold there was a metal ring between my manifold and the turbo. is it safe to run my sbr racing manifold without that ring because obviously now it won't fit.

also i bolted my sbr to the engine but now there is a 1/2 inch gap between the turbo and my manifold. how do i fix that without having to pry my turbo upward to bolt them together?

i have a 2g o2 housing. is that that same outside dimension as the 1g? or is it a little taller causing my turbo to be closer to my manifold?

would it be smart for me to put a lot of force onto my turbo by pulling it up to meet my manifold?

usually you always have to pull the turbo up to the manifold. Being that the manifold is the only thing that supports the turbo.

well doesn't the downpipe hold it up as well? and it feels like i'm having to pull way too hard. like idk if i can even get it up that high. i'm literally pulling as hard as i can to move it up

could it be that the manifold is meant for a bigger turbo that is a little taller, therefore the manifold would be a little shorter in height to help it fit better?

No, it's not designed for a "bigger" turbo. It will fit with the stock turbo.

The downpipe is sitting on a flex section, so it's not really "supporting" the turbo either. Granted, if you left the oil drain attached to the turbo without being attached to the manifold, you could have very well bent that.

Unbolt it from the downpipe, and go from there. Make sure you didn't bend the oil drain line.

Leave the ring out of the manifold.

The exhaust could be hanging up on something. Unbolt the downpipe from the o2 housing and see if you can bolt the turbo on without that connected.

Just an FYI, when I put on my FP manifold, I was stupid enough not to think about removing the stud from the turbo to pull the stock manifold. Instead, I had a pry bar forcing the turbo downward to move the manifold up and over the long stud. I also left the turbo hanging on the manifold overnight because it got dark and I couldn't see well. Your oil line is fine.

I have the newer sbr manifold with wastegate hole drilled, Bought it 2 years ago, just getting my motor done finally, and am about to install the manifold, after seeing all the horror pics of cracked manifolds, I dont even see the manifold offered on there website any more, anybody from slowboy know if its even worth putting the manifold on my car, can I trade it in for another manifold, anyway to tell if the lattest casting version?

Unbolt the little bracket that holds the downpipe. When it's unbolted you should have some room to wiggle the downpipe and turbo so you can bolt it up to the manifold. From what you said it sounds like it's the bracket, I would check that first.

EDIT: Didn't see that this was an old thread brought back. Anyway, I had the SBR manifold on my car with no problems. IMO, I see a lot more tubular manifolds cracking then cast manifolds. If you want to trade it in to Slowboy you'd have to contact them about that and see what they can do to work with you. Worse comes to worst just sell it on the classifieds and buy whatever manifold you feel comfortable running.
