Like I mentioned on my title. Are the t3/t4 cast manifold any good? I just purchased a t3/t4 cast exhaust manifold but heard that they do not last long even though they do say it does. They eventually crack about 3-4 months or so right? I was planning on getting the 2g exhaust manifold but decided to go with the t3/t4 cast exhaust manifold. Let me know what you guys think before i put it on. THANKS!

I've done some research and I know that the SBR cast manifolds are really no good. They tend to crack after about 3-4 months of driving. I would recommend that you go with a tubular with that set-up that you have if you want to push more power. The DNP wouldn't be so bad to that SMC-61.

It doesn't matter what it's made from, if it was made poorly. I don't know about the 3-4 months thing, but I've seen threads with SBR manifolds cracking, and even splitting in two, within less than half a year. It was on the manifolds with the DSM style flange, and they do claim to have fixed it, but I don't have any information other than that.

You'll probably be ok, but why did you go with the T3 cast manifold? I don't imagine it can do anything a ported 2g or FP unit can't, and if you really need the T3 flange for a big turbo, you would probably be better off with a header.

I was thinking about going with the 2g exhaust manifold but i guess i just chose to go with SBR cast exhaust manifold. If i had gotten the 2g exhaust manifold, i would have to get it flanged for a 38mm wastegate and finding one is not that easy. so i just decided to go with SBR cast exhaust manifold with the flanged on there already.

I've had my turbonetics cast mani for over 8 years of hard abuse now and it's just like the day it was new, save for some burned off oil and a slight bit of discoloration over the years. Can't go wrong with cast. It's the welded tubular ones that you have to watch out for!

Alright thanks, i'll keep that in mind. well, i guess i'm going to try it out and see how long it'll last for me then.

Definetly my experiences there. The old SBR manifolds must have been real junk. I've used chinese made cast manifolds and never had one of those split on me even when I hung some ridiculously large diesel turbos off them. Bottom line do a bit of research and make a decision for your self.

So what do you guys think then? Should i not use the SBR cast exhaust manifold then? I havent heard much about the SBR yet so far but i guess i might rethink about using the SBR cast exhaust manifold. If i choose not to go with the SBR cast exhaust manifold then should i go with the 2g exhaust manifold or which exhaust manifold should i used? ANY SUGGESTION?

I concur.

The old sbr mani's did crack, I know from experience. Now their newer HAFE performance Cast S.S. are a totally different manifold. Mine has been on there for a year now with some heavy abuse and still looks new. :thumb:

Hopefully the new HAFE performance Cast S.S. is different and it'll last me for a while. Well, at least someone had experience with them. I guess i'll just have to wait and see. Thanks guys.

I have been looking for cast t3 manifold too much, but how do they compare with the SLS, Punishment Racing, etc... tubular manifold?

I couldn't tell you how they compare performance wise, but I guess nobody can. The rest is just speculations and bench racing. BTW I saw this sentence on some EVO forums and was said by David Buschur:

"Cast mani would give you best spool up, nice tubular manifold will get you more peak power and more power on top end".

Quality on this manifold is outstanding. If you look at the picture I posted it looks almost like tubular, cause I polished it. It is super smooth inside and out. I am no polishing guy/no tools/, just did it with metal cutting bit and sandpaper. Having a provision for WG in the right place is a big PLUS, and should clear power steering pump and whatever. The company that makes it - ERL, does some top notch stuff, just look at them. And for $ 499 it is a excellent deal.

My buddy just got a brand new SBR cast manifold as a warranty replacement for his older one that cracked, and on runner #1 it's stamped "BEPDSM7". It's possible that Bullseye Power is now making these manifolds for Slowboy; if that's the case, I would trust the cracking to be a thing of the past. Bullseye has had their hands in turbo housing technology for quite a while now, and I would trust their castings not to crack.
