running rich

i got a 99 gst with a 16g turbo upgrade and a full turbo back exhaust system, stock everythin else!! After i broke in the turbo i noticed i was shootin out black smoke when i punched it, my guess is im runnin rich! right? any ideas on how to solve this problem and ### items i might need inorder to solve it! thanks!!
any information will be much appreciated!!!!!

Yeah, you're probably running pretty rich. Black smoke is typically gasoline.

You said "stock everything else," are you sure about that? Because you need a boost gauge and a BOV before even thinking about the turbo. I know you bought the car that way, but whoever modded it really didn't think before they did so.

Anyway, you're going to need a way to lean it out, like an AFC or (what I would use) DSMLink. You're also going to want a way to monitor knock and preferably a wideband for AFR.

But why? You'd need the MAF, too. You don't need the MAF as an upgrade with just a 16g... you might gain a little something but probably not enough to notice. I think the AFC would work better for tuning, as well, over the MAFT.

The best option would be DSMLink.
