running rich?

i have a 96 tsi awd. when i start the car it idles and then it loads up or rev. it will load up or rev for a few seconds and then idle normal again. while its idling there is black smoke coming from exhaust. while it loads up there is nothing. have no clue what it is. while its loading up there is a clicking sound on the passenger side of car. any help would be great thanks.

Is the clicking coming from inside the car??? Behind the radio is where the ecu is at and thats one of the telltale signs of it going bad due to leaky caps.
