I'm looking for people who have used both 1G and 2G heads, intakes, and TBs on the 6 bolt.

I'd like to know which head is best to have built up, honed, ported, polished, surfaced, w/e for the best amount of flow. I'm looking to either get 280, or 272 cams, run 3" exhaust with a flowmaster 40 muffler. I'm interested in which valves, springs, and lifters would be best, 3 or 5 angle cut grind also.

This head will be used on a 650+ engine so I'm looking at doing some work :p
I also would like to know if either head would need to be shaved down to create more compression or get bigger pistons...

Any input is welcome.

the search features on this site is awesome. try it out sometime because there are many threads about this subject.

I have tried it over and over again and yet I keep coming up with nothing but arguements. I seem to find more and more people with mixed feelings and decisions on this exact subject but yet I find NOTHING that has a good explaination on what is best and which would be best for power, flow, etc.

I'm not looking for people who argue about it, I'm not looking for people who dont know anything about it, or for people who only know what they've read. I want to TALK with people who have done this, and know what they are doing.

These are the people you want to talk to. Scroll to the top, click "Members", go down to "Dyno Sheets" and look at the people putting out 650+. Here's the list of them. Go through their profiles and look at what they have listed. You might even try PMing the active ones.

Generally speaking, no one with 4G63 takes material off of their head to raise compression, just go with a higher compression forged piston, which is what you'll need anyway for your goals. The highest numbers I've seen on a 6-bolt with stock internals was 585 whp, although I cant remember if he was using 2g pistons on 1g rods or if it was straight 1g parts, but needless to say you will need forged pistons for 650 whp. It sounds like you should really look through these boards some more, if you're asking these kinds of questions.

That is just it... Every thing I've read has mixed answers. Too many posts have 1 person saying "do this" another says "no do this" and then another person says "well i read you could do this but i've yet to do it" so its just too hard to figure out who knows what.
