So I just recently installed a 3" turbo-back exhaust to my '99 gsx. To keep the CEL from turning on, a spacer was placed on the 2nd 02 sensor. Besides the exhaust (and a 1G BOV), the car is totally stock.

I logged a couple of pulls before and after the 3" exhaust and 02 sensor spacer were installed. All values are directly from the EvoScan logging program, except for "AFRCalc" and "BoostCalc" which are estimated using a formula.

Here are two pulls from when the car was totally stock:

Now, here are a few pulls from when the exhaust and 02 spacer were added:

Thoughts, comments, suggestions welcome. I do not have DSMLink yet (next mod), so there's probably not too much I can do to right now. Is the amount of knock shown on the exhaust pulls acceptable (with exception of the very last one)?

Thanks in advance.

Doesn't look to bad. I assume your on the stock t25 turbo, stock pump; injectors; and FPR. You can rewire your fuel pump just a suggestion. There is quite a bit of knock. Check to see that your knock sensor is tight.

Yes, the car is totally stock with exception of the exhaust. I know there is no definitive answer to this, but in your opinion, how much knock is "acceptable." There was pretty consistent knock even with one of the stock pulls.

However, it seems like most of the knock in the pulls is resulting from not having enough timing advance. I've never experienced knock occurring because of not enough timing...is this what is happening? If so, I would assume that the type of knock I am seeing is "safer" than knock from running too much timing.

It looks fine to me. Its not alot of knock. Timing seems pretty conservative to me thru the mid range. I would say its safe to drive. If anything its "knock" from running pretty rich according to o2 voltage. But I hate using o2 voltage as a tuning tool. Try one heat range colder spark plug and see if you can log any changes. It would make a fun experiment.

Great...thanks so much for your input. I was unaware that knock could be caused by too much fuel.
