Here is my issue. I have a 97 GST auto with the 6bolt swap done. Mods are in profile. The car runs and drives good but Im not sure about the tranny and if its worth building the car or not. If not Ill try to sell the car and buy a 5spd or GSX. Just curious as to the success or failure of auto GST builds out there. If I keep the car I plan on around 400whp on pump gas what are some thoughts.........

To build auto GST or sell for 5speed------

I think it really depends on what you'd rather drive. The stock trannies really arent that bad, but with 400whp I'd say you'd be looking to have it rebuilt by shep to handle the added power.

People don't realize how easy it really is to swap in a manual trans....Look into that if you are doubting the a/t.
I can tell you from personal experience that if you can change a transmission the job is basically same as replacing a trans+1-2 days of extra work to install pedal, shifter and such. It just takes some time to gather all the parts needed. PM if you have any questions.

Yep thats the toughest part. I did have to take a grinder to that big thick spacer type deal on the crank and grind it down as it wouldn't pop out. I had the engine out so it was easy.

Well I have the car up for sale right now but if it doesnt sell I will just keep it and throw the parts on it that I originally intended. I really dont have a problem driving the auto, I have never driven an auto turbo DSM yet and it is definitely different than a manual besides obvious reasons. The shift points and hesitation and everything will just get some getting used to.

As for the auto/manual swap.....I would be all game for that but I recently moved and dont really have the right tools for that at my garage so if that is the case Ill either once the car has the parts on it and tranny starts to poop just buy a new "somewhat" built tranny from IPT or somewhere and throw that in there.

Im just curious if the stock tranny will hold up to my turbo choice which is going to be either a 50trim or something similiar?.....
This will be a daily driver by the way
