Will this intercooler fit?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Yes it will with very slight custom fabrication of mounting points. All you will need to do is go to your local home depot and have 2 pieces of metal brackets cut to support the intercoolers onto your top bumper support points and you should be set. If you need any more help let me know and i will guide you.

How many mounting points are there?

On other cars it seems like there is one on top, in the middle of the intercooler, and maybe one on the bottom?

I'm not sure.

Could someone find me a nice cheap core that will bolt right up?

Sorry to tell you this but no core will bolt right up without you custom making the brackets unless you find a cheap sbr unit around for sale LOL. You can bolt the brackets to the 2 top mounting points on the fmic in the link to the 2 top bolts on the bumper bracket near the corner of the headlight.

Oh okay.

So it's basically, buy a FMIC, and just make it fit. :thumb: Haha.

some cores are different, but most have 4 mounting spots. 2 on top and 2 on bottom. Some take custom fabrication, where as others are a direct bolt on. I had mine supported from the bottom, so it wasnt necessarily "hanging" and plus the support of the IC piping, it held great. You will probably need to cut your front bumper support ( cut the middle out of it, and leave each side for the form and strength of your bumper) for the IC to fit. Good luck man.

Yeah, my bumper is already precut for a FMIC from the guy who sold me the car.

Do you guys think that is a decent IC?

All intercoolers will fit but you need to do some custom piping fabrication and might need some fabrication on your bumper to let it fit.

And for that $57 intercooler core I assure you it is not 600-700 hp rated. 700CFM is more like 400-450 hp with a good design but I highly doubt those can even meet 400-450 hp standards selling at $57.
Even if you prove them wrong they won't refund your money, they just don't do refund period. Don't ever buy intercooler, exhaust or intake manifold on eBay unless the manufacturer of the parts are prominent known and reliable.

Yes it is. As the matter of fact i am getting that same exact core soon, only thing holding me back at the moment is some brake pads that i need to replace and a disc rotor resurface job, car brakes excellent tho. Get the fmic

So that black piping will work with the the link I posted in the first post?

All you need to do is mount it to the 'frame' infront of the radiator. There should be 2 holes for bolts on each side, just weld a plate onto the intercooler and you're set. Also on a 12" tall intercooler expect to have to bend the hood latch a bit or just mount the intercooler a little lower making sure it doesnt stick under your bumper.

Yeah, but I've had this intercooler on my S13 and S14, so I know it's a good intercooler.

Anyways, will my piping fit with this?

I have this intercooler, it is the same as the one Dejon uses for their street series. Call him up and ask him for the mounting brackets for his street intercooler. I got the upper and lower pipes along with the mounting brackets through him. I put about an inch and a half worth of washers to inbetween the bracket and intercooler to lower it so it would clear under my fogs. I love this set-up. Pics are in my profile. It has 3" inlet and outlets just like Dejons pipes which also come with the couplers and the pipes reduce to the 2.5 then whatever type of turbo you have it will mate up to it with the options of the piping, i would highly suggest you look into it. If you have any specific installation questions just ask, I am happy to help.

You've got a PM. :sneaky:

I got rid of mine. I started to cut it but then The top wouldnt clear it so i just gave up on hacking it. I figured I would save a little weight, I did leave in the both of the brackets though.

Oh okay, that's probably what I'll end up doing.

Do you have any pictures of yours with the bumper off?

I bought mine of ebay and it had similar mounting points.

Go to home depot and buy a long piece of aluminum angular or whatever its called, something like this Extruded Aluminum Angle Mounting Brackets form Monarch Metal and just make sure its long enough to reach across the front of the car to both mounting points of your now will be gone bumper support as dsm2n89r stated, he was there when I did my install. THats the simplest and cleanest way to install if you ask me.

ONce you measure it just mark your spots and drill the hole, then just get some matching nuts and screws and bolt it on.

As far as piping. YOu can buy one of these eBay Motors: CXRacing 2.5" Universal Intercooler Turbo Piping Kit (item 250236060997 end time Apr-20-08 13:45:00 PDT) and do your piping from that. It brings t-bolt clamps and good couplers.

I did my piping from where the stock sidemount goes to the intercooler, then from the intercooler to my turbo. I have the stock up pipe, afterwards you can just buy an aftermarket one and you still saved tons of money. EBay stuff is highly underrated if you ask me, my previous car was an SRT-4 and it made 471whp at 28 pounds on a 61mm. I had an ebay intercooler, so thats what made me get one for my talon as well.

Awesome information. That helped out a lot! Thanks!

I already have IC piping that someone said would work fine, but if it doesn't I will go with that piping. That is a good price; I was looking around for cheap piping but could find any.

You're the man! :thumb:
