Rear back plates, what's involved????

Hi guys.
97 TSI AWD, rear disk/drum combination.
I have to replace the rear back plates as they are rotten.
Was wondering in what kind of a mess I'm getting into. I'm pretty sure the rear axle nuts are seized in place, I'll be using a lot of PB Blaster. But else than that, do I have to remove the wheel bearing?

Havn't done brakes on a talon yet, but the hub on all the brakes i have done are usually a sealed hub. So rip and tear, make sure you have lots of penetrating fluid.
