So here's my situation. I have a 94 Talon ES that I'm trying to sell. Rebuilding the tranny is putting the $ way over the value of the car. I swapped in an F4A22 [same model tranny] from a 1991 Laser, swapped over a few different sensors from the original tranny and have everything hooked up. Now its not working whatsoever and won't go into gear. It did work fine before with the other tranny. Possibly the TCU? Everything's plugged in correctly. Unless I have a bad tranny I'll be pissed.

Any advice? Since there is no information on swapping auto->auto trannies really at all that I've found. I'd appreciate it much.

On a side note: Also for anyone that thinks a 2nd gen auto tranny will swap directly into a 1st gen with "few" modifications, they were wrong. I had also tried doing this swap with an F4A33 95 TSi FWD tranny on this car and the mount for it is completely different and the other axles would have had to been used. You literally would have had to grind the mount off the donor car and weld it onto the frame rail of the recipient. The bell housing is also different.

Did you spin the torque converter until it dropped into place? As you set the transmission on its side, the torque converter can slide out. If you don't turn it until it reseats,it will clunk once or twice then drop lower into the bell housing, you may have fried the pump.
I know, cause this is exactly what I did the first time I swapped an automatic.
