okay, i have a 2wheel drive car and i just found out ( after my mechanic took it apart to fix it) i have an awd flywheel in my 2wheel drive car. well anyways the problem that occured was when i purchased the car it started fine, then for some reason on a really cold night my starter grinds on my flwheel. so i take it to my mechanic who replaces the starter and it doesnt touch the flywheel. so anyways, he thinks it the flwheel so he takes off the tranny and says i need a new clutch too. so i buy the clutch and the 2 wheel drive flywheel that was made for my car and not another awd flywheel that was on my car in the first place. anyways he puts the flyweel and starter on and the starter still dont make contact with the flywheel. so he wants me to order another awd flywheel that seemed to work with my car in the first place. and the new starter that i got is somehow deeper on the gear then the one that was originally on there. so he is going to put on the awd flyweel and the deeper starter on it. he thinks that the 2wd car should have an awd flywheel. but its 2wd!!!! anyways he also said that the grinding might have been from the starter being too small. and i wanted to know is there a diameter difference in the flywheels and also how could an awd flywheel that turned over the car, and then changed to what its suppose to be flywheel (2wd) not work but the awd on 2wd flywheel worked? was there a tranny swap? its a 6 bolt engine and the car was manufactured on january of 92. all help is appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
