so we got all new lifters, 1/2 the valves are new, new springs. We did this after timing belt jumped and bent some valves. SO now we get everything lined up exactly, its not 180 out of round or anything like that, the timing is fine, but when we turn it over by hand, it wont turn at all. It we take off the head with the sprockets on there it will turn. Idk whats going on, idk if it the valve hitting the piston or what, but i really need help. THANKS

but we never took that off to have put the plate on backwards.

YOu need to bleed the lifters down, as they will extend fully when there's no tension on them and they wil open the valves too far causing them to hit.. You just stick a small straightened paper clip in the little hole untill you feel the lifter colapse, then pump them a ton of times to get all the oil out of them that you can and re-install.

I'm not sure I read it properly, but if you take off the belt, the cams will turn, or the crank will turn? Two things to check: 1. Are there spark plugs in it? and 2. Is it in gear?

we already bled the lifters.

And what i meant when i said take it off, is that when i take off the head, and turn the sprockets, it turns freely. But when i put it on and line up ALL the marks, it wont turn anymore.

Spark plugs are not in, and its not in gear.

so we are completley out of ideas of what it could be.

but we found out if we take out the rollers on teh 4th cylinder intake cam, it moves freely, and the same thing with the 3rd cylender exhaust rollers. idk if this is the problem, but we have new valves, new lifters, and the head was at the shop twice already.

They may be a stupid idea but try to turn over the engine after removing the spark plugs. It could be compression that is holding it back but even that you should be able to overcome it. I would also try to just turn both individual cams over with a wrench. Hopefully, that would let you isolate the problem.

Im thinking the same as Black95AWD. Dowl pins on cam gears need to be straight up. You may have the marks level, but 180 degrees off. If your crank turns, but not with your head on,but will with the rockers on, your hitting your valves, which means valve timings off. Double check the V-Faq, and let us know.

Be carefull.

Tyler.

I just re-read your post and it said it wont turn AT ALL when you install the belt? As in not even a little bit either direction? When you say you turned the cam sprockets with the head off, is that with all of the rocker arms installed? Make sure all the valves are opening/closing properly.

How far will it turn when you remove the #3 and #4 roller rockers?

Also verify all your other pulleys, oil pump, balance sprocket, all idler/tensioner bearings rotate freely as well.

I dont know how plausible this is but check the condition of the harmonic balancer. If its worn out and slipped somehow, the timing mark may be off so your not truly at TDC. Just a thought. But you would still be able to rotate it a little bit so... IDK. Just throwing ideas out there for you.

Tyler

ok well when we line up all the marks and have the belt on, it will turn 1 or 2 revolutions but then stop and not move at all.

with out the roller rockers it turns completely free around, doesn't stop at all.

also, we just replaced the harmonic balancer.

ok timing is perfect and valves arnt too long, that was one of our first guesses. But i guess ill know what wrong with it within the next couple of days ### we are finally taking it to a mechanic.
