I finally decide upon and purchased a WB kit for my 420a. I bought the Zt-2 w/ LCD display & MAS sensor. I did a lot of reading on the archive of W/B discussion, but still have a few questions before installation.

1) I see some people leave the WB O2 installed while others remove it and plug the bung after they are finished tuning, what are the real benefits here either way...?

2) Most Mfgrs (including Zietronics) recommend installation of the bung at either 10 or 2 O'Clock position on the pipe and at least 16-18 inches from the valves or turbo outlet. They warn not to use the stock bung for heat reasons (mine is about 17" from turbo outlet). I can weld on a new bung w/o an issue...how far down the pipe is optimal...?

3) The Bosch harness is pretty thick. I have run out of room in the firewall hole I tapped just above the top of the brake peddle mount. Looking for a harness hole I can share to avoid drilling another hole.

Also, the LCD is a little larger then I expected. Looking for a good spot, I had problems deciding. Finally I think I will make a bracket that mounts to the sunroof control panel on the ceiling. I'll post pics if it works out...

Thanks in advace for any advice for my 420a specific installation...

I have no 420A experience but I do have Zeitronix experience.

1.) Taking it out after tuning extends the life of the sensor. I have had mine in all the time for over a year of daily driving and haven't had problems. Even with using leaded race gas a couple of times.

2.) For practical reasons the bung is usually welded at 3 o'clock on a 4g63 and placed right in front of the flex section under the oil pan. On a 4G63 our stock location is in the housing right after the turbo. If yours is already down stream 17" and high enough on the pipe to avoid condensation you should be good.

3.) I ran mine through the firewall hole on the passenger side where in the turbo cars the main harness goes through. I don't know if your car uses or even had this hole.

4.) I don't have the display anymore because I went with the ZR-2 gage. You can see pics of how I set up both here. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-parts-feedback-reviews/274165-zeitronix-zr-2-multi-gauge.html

OK. I think I will decide to use the existing front O2 bung and run the W/B in there constantly in place of the original replacing the O2 feed to the ECU. I drilled the firewall and ran the fat-ass'd Bosch harness through using reusing the split wire loom for the 3 MAF wires to route to the Zt-2 base. The Apexi turbo timer I bid on finally arrived so I plan to wire this in at the same time since both need to tap the ECU harness. To avoid tapping directly @ the harness in my engine bay, I was hoping I could do the same as the stock turbo guys and tap directly behind the stock stereo (stock ECU placment for turbo models). I have a 4 connector harness back there, I just can't find any concrete infomation to base the functions to the wires.

Anyone that owns a 2Gb model know what I am talking about (right DS kicker panel, directly behind/below stock placment of stereo..?

I would only tap where you are sure what the wires are doing, if that means tapping in the engine bay then make sure you do it proper with solder and heat shrink. Don't use those plastic clip on splices I have seen them vibrate off and then you will be left wondering why you car isn't running right.

The soldering won't be a problem, I have years of experience with that, I just would really prefer not to make the connections in a dirty area (compared to under the dash) if I can avoid it.

I see a number of 420-t people with equipment that requires tapping the ECU harness, did they all tap the harness just below the ECU end connectors in the engine well...?

I took pics of the harness under the dash that I am asking about, I just left the camera @ the shop (across town). I'll run by there tonight, grab it, and upload pics for a better reference for you guys...
