So I replaced the capacitors in my buddy's 91 and now it doesn't start... it just cranks and nothing happens. I know nothing about DSMs and really need to figure out what the problem with the car is... Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Would it be a problem if I used lower voltage rated caps(25V) 50'000 hours? *the capactence is the same on them 47 and 100.

Did you solder the caps on both side's of the board? If not, you should do so. leave enough space for the soldering iron to fit to the stem of the caps. Solder it at the bottom and solder it at top.

Our ecu's are double contacted points. I know this cause my dad have been working on electronics, and other stuff for 30+ years. I just watch him repair.

Ill go take a look at that I didn't think of that.

Thanks

The holes are normally plated through but the corrosion often damages or eats them up.
All the corrosion has to be removed and any traces of the electrolyte neutralized or the repairs will be temporary at best.

Making sure that the capacitors are soldered to both sides of the board makes sure that the circuits are connected.

Did it run before the cap replacement? Mine ran pretty crappy, then died and didn't restart. Tried replacing caps, but either my solder skills suck or the board was too far gone to save. Another ECU is what it took for me.
