Im posting this for a friend.
92 Talon AWD

Just got done with his Build (2.3 stroked 272/272 cams. Has all supporting mods. Rebuild Tranny.etc..._

So as he's breaking in the motor (so far 130+miles) the Throttle cable snaps, so we pull over and rig a way to fix it just to get us home. Then we're driving about 20feet and notice that when he lets out the clutch pedal we hear a noise thats sounds like metal & metal grinding.. We assume its the throwout bearing so we get to his house asap. We take out the tranny and notice his flywheel is hitting the shift fork which is grinding out the metal. Any ideas on how this would happen or how to fix this?

Also he has a 90 tranny and transfer case..2600 6 puck in case your wondering (everything bolts up fine but i remember hearing that 90 trannies are different? can that be the cause?)

Ive been doing some reading and it seems people have heard the noise from the throwout bearing either not being lubed before install or not setup correctly according to the tabs.. could this be the reason?

The bearing was lubed before and never heard the sound from the 130+ miles put on it so far.

When I replaced my clutch, I forgot grease up the TOB (oops) and hasnt given me any problems so far, that was in May, im thinking his clutch fork bent.

Is the TOB bearing damaged, or bent on the inside? I heard the grinding noise too on my old tranny turned out the mount where one of the top bolts on the tranny had snapped off and made the tranny sag which bent my TOB and snapped the sleeve off the tranny where the TOB goes, not sure whats its called.

I am the owner of the car... I pulled off the trans and looked at the pressure plate and it was hitting the fork.. it took some metal off. I am worried if I ran or run it like this the fork will brake in two and leave me stranded. After taking a closer look at it and taking decent meausrments I came to the conclusion that there is too much metal at the end of the crankshaft where the flywheel bolts up to the crank. I dont wanna take off the crank, so I am gonna take off the flywheel and take it to a machine shop and see if they can take a little metal off of the end.

I wouldnt recomend buying a stroker kit from slowboy racing. as there is very bad fitment issues, and it is destroying my bellhousing on my trans.

yea this is something you should probably tlak to someone about even though you seem like u have experience there are just some things you should try to get a solution elsewhere for. Ive heard of this or something like this happening before. My friends friend had a similar situation but never found out how he resolved the problem.
