Ok guys, heres the dilema.....I searched and found that there is a difference between the 6 and 7 bolt oil pans. Can anyone tell me how to tell the difference. I'm trying to buy a Turbo oil pan on ebay but it doesn't say if it was from a 6 or 7 bolt motor. Guy says it came off a 92 TSI, and i need a 6 bolt pan. What are the chances it is a 7 bolt for that year? Bad news is I jumped the gun and put in a bid not knowing there was a difference

vfaq.com it's there. You slide your hand below crank pulley and if a lump then 6 bolt if downhill swipe then 7 bolt

The 63t pan's mounting flange is flat all the way around.

Looks like a 6-bolt to me. With the pictures in the ad, it's hard to be 100% sure. But yeah, ask the seller to be sure.

Hey thanks for all the help guys. I wrote the guy and he said it was from a 6 bolt, so I'm going through with the auction. :thumb:

Yep, you can tell in the upper right and lower left pictures that there's no hump. I went through 3 pans before getting a good one like that, paid a lot more too.
