Im done with the rewire, but if i used a bigger could i still get more voltage from the pump?

Anything larger than 10ga or 12ga wire and you're getting to a point with diminishing returns. The wire at the connector to the fuel pump is smaller anyway. To me, it seems like having the voltage come directly from the battery is the main factor for the increased voltage at the pump.
Follow the instructions in the VFAQ and the write-ups here. You can't just "eliminate" the stock wiring to the fuel pump. If you simply attach a power wire to from the battery to the pump, the pump is going to be running all the time. You need the stock wires as a signal wire to trip the rewire relay and send power through.
