Ok guys so im planning to upgrade my fuel system in the next week before I buy my 16g. Im not planning on doing anything too crazy right now, Im going to get 650's, 190 fuel pump rewired and SAFC. I saw the AFC NEO for a cheaper price, now what I want to know is what is the difference between the two?

Can you adjust your fuel just as well with the NEO as the SAFC? I now the SAFC is more expensive.. thanks guys..

The Neo is the new version of the SAFC. The SAFC and the SAFC-II are discontinued and are no longer sold unless a company still has remaining stock or if it is used. There seems to be only minor differences between the two.

The SAFC2 was superior because of one thing. while it also has a good amount of rpm tuneing points, IT HAS TWO(2) SAVEABLE MAPS.
the neo only has one.
this means that for those people with dual stage boost controllers, the 2 can do a lot of good.
think of it this way. you have one tune on your SAFC and 2 boost levels...hmm.
NOW you have a map for high boost and a map for low boost.
or one for daily and one for smog? who knows, its up to you.
oh an lets not forget that a neo new costs more than an safc new or used.

Also it is going to be difficult to tune 650 injectors with an AFC, i would recommend dsmlink.

nfernotalo, you should just sell me your Talon cause I love black so much.

On to the real question at hand, I would just go for the SAFCII unless youre into pretty light shows, then get the Neo. You can pick up a SAFC for under $200 shipped now. And yes you should be able to compensate for 650s and below but once you get that bug... Youll need bigger injectors and DSMlink or equivalent.

Damn, ive read 650's was the most you could tune with safc..

Yep, that's the "recommended" limit. I was running a SAFC-II and 650cc injectors for about 2 years and didn't have any problems. Mathematical compensation allows up to 50% removal of airflow, but the problem becomes excessive timing. So, technically, you could tune much 850's, but your timing would be so high you would blow the motor.

Can you tell me where I can get the safc for 200, I heard theyre hard to find now.
Ive had the bug just cant spend my money on my car right now... but its starting to itch and no its not crabs LOL

Just to make sure, this is the same for the Neo right?
Anything over 650cc is pushing it?
I own a Lancer Evolution III so DsmLink is not an option for me, and neither is the EMS because of price.

so all you're saying is safcII is much more better then the afc neo?

Yes that is what we are saying.

get a safcII.... you can find one on ebay or on here used for a good price. also for a 16g you dont really need 650s, 550s are plenty, but if you plan on in the future going bigger than i guess it would be wise to get the 650s. but if you dont and a 16g is big ene enough for you i would recommend just getting 550s.

I was running 22psi and about 35lbs/min when I upgraded to DSMLink. Running the same boost after upgrading, my IDC's were about 78% if I remember correctly. All my logs are on my laptop at home, so I can't say for sure.

PM me if you want to talk about a good price on a SAFC-II. ;)

As for the 650cc vs. 550cc debate, I'll recommend 650's all day long. 550's, mathematically, can only support ~39lbs/min at an IDC of 100%, which a 16g is very capable of producing. Better safe than sorry.

I have the neo and I like that it has 16 points of adjustment. I've gotten pretty good at using it, so much so that I wish it had even more points. . . maybe it's time to graduate to DSMLink.

But in any case, I started using the neo in 'easy' mode with only 8 points. It doesn't take long though before you will start to feel like you want more accuracy in the adjustments; I think the neo provides that to a decent extent.

I know the SAFC can hold two settings while the NEO can only hold one, but which one has the most correction/adjustment points per RPM? The SAFCII or the NEO?

im running a SAFC II with 680s and a walbro 255 and honestly ive had no problems what so ever for over a year now. Ive heard of the limits. I was planning on getting dsmlink when i got the 680s but money got tight and couldnt but everything was fine and has been. I get mine tuned by a mechanic but still everythings been fine. Im probably not getting all i can out of the setup but its not damaging anything.
