[RESOLVED] mystery part laying under hood? think it may be egr soloniod

Ok well i had the battery out putting in new intercooler piping and a new slave cylinder when i found a part that i think is the egr solonoid(yes i searched). Ther part has a hose about a foot long(looks like a cooliant hose), attached to a disc, then has a vacuum line coming off the disc. I am getting ready to do the six bolt swap but wanted to get everything in this car right before i did it so i wouldn't lead into alot of problems later. the hose that is on this has a bolt capping off the end, which i dont know why cause i dont think anything would come out of it. Now if this is the egr i take it that its already blocked off? I am not getting any cel either. If this is the egr tell me the best route of what i should do-#1 take it all the way off #2 hook it back up #3 leave it how it is. I can find alot of shit on egr blockoff but that is all it tells you is how to block it off not what to do with the shit you do block off!

Looks like you were right. As for what you should do with it, I'm not really sure. I'm down here in Cali so I would hook it up right for smog purposes but you probably don't have to worry about that.

Not quite. I think he sits at the CHP station and post pointless shit. Just kidding. But, Defiant knows a thing or two about these cars. IMHO, i think he helped Diamond Star codevelop the 4g63 way back when. Then he left, and thats when crankwalk happen. Sounds pretty correct to me.

Dude read what i wrote! i said i just found that picture on the internet. That part looks almost identical to the egr solonoid that is on our cars. The only different is it doesn't say chrysler. i will try to find a picture or just take one if you like. Doubt i will even have time since this thread will probably be cloesd, for obvious reasons.

I could care less about defiant, just dont care for his smart ass comments. Why wouldn't i take a picture? cause my garage is 40 minutes away, and taking a picture of something is the last thing on my mind. But when i go up there this weekend i will take a picture just to prove to you and everyone else that thats what it looks like! As far as where it came from i have no idea? I am starting to think it came from underneath the battery where that charcoal canister is, i think it may off been attached to the bottom of it? I am unsure though i haven't had time to take out the batter tray and remove that canister.

thanks man but thats the wrong pic. That is the EGR valve., i know what that is! I never would of started this thread if i knew what the part was. Hell it may not even be the egr solonoid? But, it does look identical to the picture i posted. I will say this though this is my fourth dsm and i have never seen this part before. I really dont think it comes on the first gens, never seen it anyway. It looks extactly like the picture i posted, only difference is that mind has a bolt plugged into the end of the big tube. I'm not sure why its in there though since the other end is open and the vaccum line goes down inside another tube about the same size of the tub that is plugged.

West Virginia is a lovely place. It's just some of the people from there, like ones that can't spell "solenoid". Terrific place to vacation, though.
