I just have a question on the pedal pressure when buying a new clutch. I have a 97 GSX and was looking into the ACT 2600 Street Plate clutch. My car is currently all stock, but will modify later on. Does it matter if I get the 2600?

Also when I read on clutches, for instance the 2600 has more clutch pressure over stock 52% i think. Does that mean it will be real tough to push in the clutch or what? By the way im new to manual :) Im still learning, I just dont want it to effect me that much. Thanks.

It will be a little harder to push in, but easier to drive. If you're doing mods down the road, get a good clutch so it can handle whatever you do in the future.

2600 is good for future mods. Expect the clutch pedal to be heavy. at least it was for me of course youll get used to it. but its the price youll have to pay.or just do some research on other brands

It is rather firm to push against, it will take you some getting used to but will help in the long run.

The stock clutch sucks. I have a 2600 and I like it. The "friction point" where the clutch engages is just more precise. You'll get used to it and it will be good for future mods. I dont mind the added pressure a bit.

if you have stop and go traffic its gonna suck. your legs will get a little tired it is firm if i remember my stock pressure i would say at least triple that. but it will do the job of holding any future mods.

Lol, well right now its just daily driver, I just like fast daily driver LOL, just incase someone want to race :)

Also wouldnt it be good excercise? I need bigger calf muscles LOL

1 Last thing, I don know how the transmission in the car is, car has 95k miles with stock tranny. Does it matter if you put a brand new clutch into a bad transmission? (Not saying mine is bad, but I just got the car and am not sure)

If you don't want that heavy of a clutch, you could look into getting a ACT 2100 or a Centerforce. They are good to around mid 11's which if your car is a stock daily driver you won't be seeing that any time soon. As far as new clutch bad tranny, I'm not sure but I would think that with a new clutch, there is a chance of the drive line shock causing more problems. Hope this was helpful!:thumb:

thanks for help guys, Just need a bit more info on tranny, if it good to put new clutch on a tranny I know nothing about. If it will damage the clutch in anyway, sorry im noob to this :)

Also it seems people complain that 2600 is heavy clutch? How bad can it be? I mean I would assume better clutches = easier. Guess it tougher?? wish I can tell how bad it is before I purchase, since it real expensive LOL.

BUMP, went today to lift up car, and this is basically a new question, but my car vibrates at around 40mph and 60mph, people said I should do alignment, etc. But when we looked there were 3 mechanics with me (1 was my uncle) and they looked and saw driveshaft was loose in the rear of the car, and they said that can be the vibration right there???? I have no idea, because I dont notice vibration near the rear, but mostly in the front....No one else can figure out the problem, so im guessing I should fix that anyways? How much does that cost?

Thanks again, didnt want to make a new thread :)

I would definately go with the 2600, stay away from the centerforce, my friend has one in his TSI, he hates it. He complains that the pedal is too soft and doesnt give you enough pedal feel

I'll have to disagree with that. I use the centerforce and its awesome. Many people here locally and a good friend of mine use it as well. I have never heard any complaints about them. I would get a centerforce because its the closet one you will find to match up with the stock clutch pressure.

With a 2G you always have to set the pressure and adjust it. A lot people think that because its hydraulic it will self adjust!:nono:
