I was told that the internals on my 91 tsi awd are fordged is this true? and if so what mods will I need to do before going to a 16g turbo

no no no they are not fordged. biger fuel pump and 550cc injectors and afc

You'll be fine with stock internals at around 400whp on a daily driver. And if you plan on going small/big/evoIII 16g, you won't see much more than that. Supporting mods and a good tune is the most important factor in your engines lifespan. That is assuming your engine is healthy to begin with.
