Just as the title states, can i just use DSM chips on a stock 90 computer for my talon? i really really dont feel like hacking up my ecu to use his software honestly. i know its needs to be soldered reguardless but not really up for the whole nine yards. thanks

I too do not quite comprehend what you're asking.

If you are asking whether or not you can chip a '90 ECU with Keydiver EPROMS (DSMchips.com), well then the answer is yes. As a matter of fact, anyone who wants to chip a 1G will need an EPROM ECU which were found on '90's and some '91's. You'll first have to get the ECU "socketed" to accept new EPROMs. Many of the folks who are in the business of chipping ECU's will do this for you at an additional charge. :dsm:

if you order from dsmchips it will come with a socket. just take it to a local shop that does socketing or an electric place that does socketing and they'll socket it for you(average price is around 40 bucks), then it's plug and play for the chip. just make sure you have an EPROM ECU before you order it because you can only chip/socket EPROM ECUs. Just to add in that i have a stage 3 chip from dsmchips.com in my 90 EPROM ECU.

so how can i check if i have an eprom unit? or am i missing the big picture and i can use the DSM CHIP reguardless?

Yes, you can use one of DSMChips EPROMs in a 90 EPROM ECU. Not only will it provide the features Jeff lists but it will give you the factory improvements made between 90 and 91, quicker to warm up, wider fuel trim range, etc.

Please don't use the socket Jeff ships. It's the the cheapest and worst possible socket to use in a ECU because of vibration.

Get a high quality machine pin socket like the one that I and the DSMLink guys recommend. [ECMTuning - wiki] socketpartnumber
