I'm having problem with my 95 eagle talon tsi. and the problem is everytime i high rev it seems like theres a high RPM cut off and the engine is kinda jumping when it jumps to high rpm. i red the some forums about the problem and they said it might be the sparkplug connectors are broken, and the other says it might be my steering fluid after i put a steering fluid to it. pls help..thx

1. inspect your spark plugs/wires/coil and replace if needed
2. check for boost leaks
are you just revving the engine w/o any load?
3. is your bov adjusted properly?
4. did you increase your boost?

good luck!!!

Definitely check for boost leaks. If there arent any leaks or if u fix them and the problem persists try popping out the ecu and get it inspected. There are a few capacitors on the board that often go bad and leak onto the circuit board. Had it happen to my 1g but im not too sure if 2g ecu's have the same problem.

New spark plugs would be the best thing first. They're cheap, and it'll give you a chance to inspect the rest of the ignition system.

Can you describe your problem a bit more clearly?

As was already asked, does this happen only when you rev in neutral or only when you are in gear taking it to redline...or both? Does it sputter/miss (doesn't seem to fire every time) or does it completely cut out (lose all power)?

Did you do anything to the car right before this started happening? If so, what (try to remember *everything*)?

when i got the car last week the car runs strong and it pulls very fast.
when i check 1 of the spark plug wires i notice there was a crack on the connectors.
and after i check the crack in 1 of the connectors. i added a power steering fluid on the PS pump. and when i start the car it doesn't seem that there's a problem but when I start driving it around the block i can feel like a high rpm cut off on every gear.

thx.

Then I would also suspect wires and probably plugs. Get BPR6ES plugs ($2/ea) and gap them to 0.028". I use Bosch wires from Autozone without any problem, but I'm sure there are many brands that work (search around). Just make sure you get the wires to the right plugs when all's said and done. And make sure you gap them before installing. They don't come pre-gapped correctly, and the wrong gap will cause the engine to miss. Oh, and pick up a small ketchup packet of anti-seize for the plug threads. Torque to spec and retorque to spec the next day (mine sometimes loosen up after I heat-cycle the motor).

A boost leak could cause fuel cut to kick-in. That was the case with me 3 weeks ago. Fixing the leak solved my problem. Definitely do a boost leak test.

This is always a good idea, especially if you've never done one. I didn't mention it, because the problem started after he tinkered with the plug wires and mentioned the crack, but that's why I asked him if it was just stuttering/missing or if it was completely losing all power; if he's losing all power, that sounds like it could be fuel cut which would probably be a boost leak problem, WGA problem, or running too high boost (intentionally or via a big boost leak or via a failed WGA).

so you found a broken part, but rather than fix it, you came here?

good job.

This post adds nothing to the discussion. A crack in a plug wire connector wouldn't make me automatically change the plug wires if things were working fine beforehand even with the crack. He also added power steering fluid and apparently found information that suggested this may be related to his problem. He's just trying to find out which avenue to pursue to fix the problem. Some people (myself included) prefer to be fairly sure of things if possible rather than trial and error. Who knows...maybe it's the power steering fluid (no clue why, though).
