So I've been doing a lot of searches on here about DIY projects. I've read about everything from water injection, to MBCs, FMICs, and even a Tig welder from an alternator. All cool stuff. I reall yenjoy these articles. I teach shop class and I love to share this kind of information. Regardless, I was curious if anyone could list some more types of DIY projects that people have done. Links would be awesome.

Here's some that I've got-

Tubular Exhaust
Intercooler Sprayer
Parts for intake manifold fabrication
Parts for 02 housing fabrication
BOV recirculation pipe
Intercooler info- descriptions and pictures from various models
Cold Air Intake
Ram Duct for CAI
Water Injection-Results
1g exhaust
Alcohol Injection- NonDSM
2g $308 FMIC
Intake for GM MAF
MBC
1g tubro back exhaust
Dual Stage MBC
Water Injection

Too many things to name- Lots of electrical info
DIY website
PlymouthLaser.com- This site has tons of stuff, good porting articles
VFAQ- Of course
Searching always helps

I like this thread, so I decided to add a few new links-

Roller Paint Job
Another roller paint job- Read down thread and see the pics of the Charger
Lash Adjuster Removal Tool
Machine Worked Explained-Good for anyone who wants to dive into machining
Good discussion on engine deck resurfacing
Another DIY FMIC
Leakdown Tester
Clutchless Manual- 1g AT mod
Porting Info- Good Port/Bad Port

I hope to add more sometime... There is so much out there, but it is sometimes hard to find and so very often, gets deleted over time. Some of the older links I posted no longer work, and they were amazing links. Like the one that showed how to plug potentiometers into a 1g ECU harness and control fuel trims that way. And more... I'll try to find that link again.

Found that electrical website-

Tons of DIY stuff- found on WayBackMachine

And if you guys ever need to find a website that is no longer there, try this-

The Way Back Machine

Excellent website, it also lets you look at sites and their previous setups. For instance you could put in a site, then look at what the site looked like in 07, or in June of 05.

One hint- when you search, I think you need to not put the www part.

Ugh. Skip that one.

There is a difference between DIY and a hack job.

I don't know, hack job or not, I think it is a pretty cool thing to be able to go in and do your own piggy back fuel system. And I think it is a pretty legit process. He in other articles he shows how to monitor knock and O2 sensor readings, so as long as you keep the O2 readings in the right place, you can make some small adjustments to your fuel trims.

What does the SAFC system do? What does the potentiometer do? It manipulates the info that goes to the computer to change the fuel trims. So I see no real difference other than one of them takes more knowledge and skill of the system.

My interest in DIY is derived from the desire to do almost everything on my car myself. Even if it'd be cheaper and easier to buy it, I take pride in doing my own work. If I could create a system similar to DSMlink, I'd do it. Not because I'm trying to save money, or do it better, but just because I think it's fun to learn and cool to say you did it.

Though it might take a few mistakes to get there.
