Turbo and Non-turbo cranks from a 6 bolt 4G63, same? Yes or no.

Yes, I searched, No, it wasn't answered decisively.

From what I've read, the crank and rods are the same. The N/T does not have the oil squirters though, and the pistons are different.

yes the crank is the same and so are the rods. pistons are for sure different with early turbo pistons they are a 7.8:1 cpmpression ratio and the n/t pistons are 9:1's. as for having no oil squirters its the block that is missing them.

the crank and rods are the same.. the pistons are different.. no oil squirters.. lower psi oil pump too if I am not mistaken... other than that, you can slap some turbo pistons on a NA bottom end, and it will be fine.. stock pistons need the oil squirters to stay cool, but aftermarket ones (ie Crower, Eagle, etc..) will not require them...

I actually ran a NA motor in my TSi AWD and it ran great.. I had a FMU, boost controller set to 12, free mods, and the turbo intake manifold and throttle body, and of course the injectors...
It ran great, but I also had to have a 2g ignition timing map put in my ecu, as the ignitions advance curve was too much with the higher compression, and caused it to knock a bit..

Yes they are both nitride coated. The n/a crank is just missing the flywheel locator pin between two of the bolts. It's drilled for it, it's just not there.

So they're not EXACTLY the same then. This is what I was looking for, thanks!

Sorry for the old thread, but I searched ehh? Anyway if I were buying a 94 nt talon with the 4g63 would it be worth it to keep the motor and build it for my 2g turbo and swap them? What I am asking is the head, intake manifold, throttle body, any of that remotely close to the sought after 6 bolt turbo motor?
