well i just recently bought a 1999 eclipse gs, yeah i know....needs turbo:cry:, well anyways i just recent bought a n1 catback exhaust for it, and its about 4.5", now i was wondering since the piping is so big and it creates more airflow, does that acually make my car lose power? because i raced my friend and he has a celica gt, both cars have same horsepower, but he beat me like nothing, so could that be becasue of m exhaust is to big and thats causing my car to lose power or is it becaue its a lot heavier?
need someones advice on whats going on o their idea?:dsm:

I assume the racing was done on a track?

A 4.5" exhaust is WAY TOO BIG, even for a turbo car it is to big for 95% of the cars out there. I do not know how much backpressure is given in the factory manifold, but you could be losing power. The fact that you based your power gains/loses on a race doesn't make much sense. The other car could be lighter, have better airflow, better traction, anything. Sell that exhaust though:thumb:

Who in the h@%% even would make a 4.5'' that is crazy. And as stated above its hurting and definitely overkill.

Is the entire pipe 4.5" inches long or just the tip. I know the tip on the apexi is 4.5" and i thought they didn't offer anything over 3"? How big is the exhaust pipe itself before the muffler?

I was under the impression that the N1 wasn't offered in 4.5" for the 420A cars. you must mean 4.5" outlet. can i pipe that big even fit under a 2g, let alone pass over the sway bar etc.
stock motor n/a 420a will always be slow

edit- you answered my question. n/a car don't have downpipes either LOL

Can you say "misleading"? According to the ad, you've got 2.25 inch piping.

Looks like you removed the silencer looking at the pic.

But it will not make you lose power. Just because you and another car have the same HP, don't mean you can beat that car.

A lot of factors go into that. Your/His driving style. Body weight of each vehicles and so on.

Add a turbo to it than that 2.5 in could come to some use. But, do not add a huge turbo or that 2.5 could be very restrictive.
