I've searched but its difficult to weed through all the posts. Any suggestions for your favorite palm pda for datalogging a 1g? only logging not interested in other features. I need one thats easy to see at day or night and i dont want to replace batteries all the time.
Anyone have luck logging with a data link cable to usb laptop using a palm operating system emulator?

I'd say a Palm IIIc would be a good all-around logging PDA. It has rechargeable batteries, color screen with backlight, and serial port. Last I heard, you cannot use a USB port for logging. It has to be serial. And the IIIc is pretty cheap, refurbished. The only feature you don't really need is color. I'm not sure what PDA would be the black/white equivalent to the IIIc. But rechargeable, backlit, serial cable, and cheap are the main features it sounds like you (and most others) want.

is there any way to datalog with a labtop:confused:

Yes. Many logging software tools are available for either PDA, laptop, or both. I have no first-hand experience, but I've certainly seen them for sale or used by other DSM folks. You just have to look at the features for the logging software to know for sure before you buy it (or call/email the vendor to make sure).
