Ok so i checked the site and couldnt find exeactly wut i need. First here are the details. Rebuilt 6 bolt with .20 pistons with less than 2k miles. Everything on the engine is new except the sensors.
Before 1k miles it was idleing rough but that dissapeared at 900 miles. On saturday i was on my way to my girls house and i'm getting off I-95 rolling up to a stop light in netural. Once my car completely stops rolling it just completely dies on me!!!!!!!! Thinking it just stalled on me i try and start it ...nothing. While waiting on my dad with his tow truck i pull my timing belt cover and try to start it.....THE CAMS DONT MOVE!!!!! thinking maybe the head blew i check my oil and no water in it. I pull my plugs and they getting spark. The engine shakes like it turning over but nothing happens:sosad: Anyone with any ideas ###ZZZZZ help me cause i'm stumped

If the cams aren't moving but the starter is still turning the engine over. There's something wrong with that. Worse thing is your bashing valves against the pistons. So your at least going to have to rebuild your head.

are you saying the cams dont move and the motor sounds like its starting? if so your in trouble! thats weird is the timing belt on there tight? possibly broke.

did you put the key thing back on the bottom crank when you rebuilt it?

see if when you crank the motor if the accessories like the a/c belt moves. if so the gear thing on the botem is spining on the crank and thus making it so the cams dont move.

Did you remove the balance shafts ? Can you hand turn to line up timing marks ? Is the crank spinning when you try to start it ?

heres a pic since i cant really explain it. this is what i think is happening.

red arrow points to the crank shaft sprocket. you said that the motor has just been rebuilt? well heres what i think happened that whoever built you motor didn't put the key way on the crank sprocket and or didn't torque the crankshaft bolt tight enough. which can explain why the motor cranks but the cams are not moving. the sprocket is spinning on the crank.

I was in this same situation about a month ago. I made the mistake of using a Rock Auto "OEM" timing belt, and the teeth just happened to tear off. I'm sure my oil leak helped cause the problem, but I am just throwing this out there to give you some ideas of what happened.

ok so i took it back to the shop that did the work for me and they checking it out. If anything was broken they going to fix it all for free cause i have a 5,000 miles guarentee in writing. I think it might have been the key because nothing else was turning. I'll write more when i hear from the shop.

I had this exact thing happen to me last month. The timing belt was tight however, the cams would not move.

My oil pump seal blew and leaked oil onto my timing belt causing my belt to slip and pistons to smash the valves.

The timing belt was still on tight and showed no oil saturation from the top, however, after inspecting under the lower cover; the problem was obvious.

You will have to get your head rebuilt and the failed timing components replaced. Hopefully they don't try and push that cost onto you saying that it was neglect on your part.
