If I were going to put a 6 bolt into a 2g car, which ECU is used if you use the 1g head, intake, TB, etc. ? I've read most articles where people kept the 2g head when they swapped in the 1g block. And then, if I were to own DSMlink, when you buy it is asks for 2g or 1g, which would be better to have?

This is all hypothetical. I'm just researching. Thanks!

I am running a 6 bolt block with a 2G head and a 2G ECU. I don't have any CEL on and everything is working fine. As for DSMLink, I don't know which one to use.

if your going to put the whole 6bolt engine you can use your 7 bolt ecu you have to hack into a couple of wires from the ecu to change the fuel pulse also you would need to hack the 7 bolts cam and crank sensors into the single 6bolt cam sensor I have the wiring diagrams I'll try to post them up by the end of today its really not that hard I have the swap done in my car.

If you have 2g car, you use a 2g ECU. The plugs from the main wiring harness won't plug into a 1g ECU.

And when you go to buy DSMlink, you will first of all need an EPROM ECU from a '95. You will order DSMlink for a 2g and it will be V2 that you order (which is version 2). You cannot order V1 anymore.

Here's the Magnus 1gina2g document:

I have 6 bolt and a 2g head. I found that I need to enlarge the head stud holes and wire the crank anglr sensor. Where can I find that wiring diagram to do this . Is there any thing else that needs to be done. I also need to buy the kiggle/IPT kit for the AT trans.

You use a 2G ECU and you would use the DSMLink for 2Gs. In order to use a 1G ECU in a 2G car you would be rewiring the entire car, which is not very worth it.

Also do yourself a favor and grab a blacktop Cam Angle Sensor. This was on the 93-94 cars. It greatly reduces the random misfire you can get. I remember I got it all the time with a green top but as soon as I switched, it rarely happened.

Everyone's info is correct, but i have to ask.. What is the average cost of a 95 EPROM ECU + DSMlink and anything you need to make it work? It's sounding like you could go damn near full stand alone for the price of getting what you need for DSMlink... I'm guessing around 7 - 800 bucks to get started , is that a correct assumption? If so you could get a base model or used stand alone and say bye-bye to all the limiting factors associated with piggy-backing the stock ECU, but if you live in a state where emissions and OBD-II communication are checked you'd probably be better with the DSMLInk.

Ok you don't have to use DSM you can use the factory ECU. What matter is your goals. I am only doing a 6 bolt swap because I have two on the floor of the garage. and coud not find a rebuildable 7 bolt. This is my sons car to carry him to school and pratice. If I have my way I will have a 95 Eprom ECU for sale/trade to off sent the rebuild cost.

I don't think it would be worth it. You would still have to buy a used non-eprom which runs the risk of something being wrong with it, to only make $100 difference.

You are right, AEM EMS is only a few hundred more. From what I have read DSMLink is very user friendly and is better for beginners who wouldn't be able to touch the EMS. Also once DSMLink v.3 finally comes out, scheduled sometime before the armegeddon, it will have so many new features it will be hard to beat for the price.
