I blew my turbo. What turbo do i go with? i've seen a lot of people on here buy the ebay big 16g with 2g install kit... should i go with this? i'm looking to do some mods to the motor. but if you look at my car in my other posts you'll see im more about style. what turbo do i go with?:dsm:

first of what are your goals for the car. please be more descriptive on what you want to do with this. i mean you can bolt on any turbo you want but will it work efficiently.

and the ebay turbos are hit or miss sometimes. some last a long time and some dont.

phaseoneracing- ebay is for gamblers...not saying I don't buy things off there once in a while but when it comes to used car parts sometimes its good and sometimes your better off using duct tape. I have seen a couple decent turbos bought off ebay from previous owners but all of the "new" ones that I have seen sold on there are cheap chinese knock-offs with horrible tolerances. More specifically what are your hp goals?

absoulte_DSM - LOL, but give him a chance. I was once all about "style" but then I got my first taste of power and was hooked. Still got the body kit on my car to prove it but theres a gt35r to back it up.

91whitegsx - your going to shorten the lift of the turbo by about ten-fold. It will overheat, get coked like crazy and burn out the bearings. Run the coolant lines, they're there for a reason.

my car is pretty much a show car. however i do drive it and people see it and want to play around on the highway. i still wanna be able to say bye bye to the little civics and others. im shooting to put at least 300 to it.. i dont want to spend all kinds of money on a turbo though..but i definitely want to upgrade. so what you think

14b-affordable, available, proven. Plus you can still turn the boost up with the right fuel mods and tunning. Just my opinion though.

The 14b was originally stock on the 1g, though on ebay and the classifieds one can usually be picked up for between 100-150, It is a nice improvement over the t25, I believe flows over 100 cfm more. I am only runnin mine on 9psi, and it has a much nicer mid to high rpm pull then the wimpy t25. Best bang for the buck, unless you got the money for the evo 16g.

300 at the wheels? I would opt for a 16g, big or small, which should do that pretty easily with the right supporting mods and still offers a lil "room to grow" if you get hooked on the power like I did...although if your like me then you'll soon be looking for much more.

14b turbo is the way to go if you are on a budget and want to upgrade from the t25. While you have the turbo off you should really look into porting your 2g manifold and o2 housing....very inexpensive and provides faster spool. You can find a 14b in the Classifieds or on ebay you can find them all day long. Make sure that you ask about the condition of the exhaust housing, because of the age of 14b turbo's, most of them have cracks in the exhaust housing (some worse than others).

If your car is more for looks then you do not want to be replacing parts often. If i was you i would for for a bigt28 turbo from any of the popular companies. That way your getting a new turbo and its bolt on no piping changes needed. A 14b is a good turbo but your only going to find used ones.

Don't upgrade just for the sake of it. The T25 is a great turbo for the street and a lot of fun can be had modding around it. A large segment of the people on this site have a still good T25 sitting on a shelf somewhere. If you are interested in some kind of motorsports and need a competitive edge, then set some goals and we can help you decide on the turbo that fits.

There is no cure for the upgrade bug, so if you haven't been bit, don't start the treatment.
