hi guys,

i have one question with regards to our gas mileage, i put in the car usualy 4.8 gallons and on a normal driving habit it gives me 120 KM is this ok for our cars or i should get more ??????

4.8 gallons will exactly put the needle on the gas gauge to the middle in my car ? is it ok alos????????

i dont have any mods except for a HKS filter and an APEXi exhaust nothing else

thanks to let me know

Don't know what to tell you but if I got it right 120Km = 75miles and that works out to 15.6MPG! A normal GST should be in the low to mid 20s

what is the maximum capacity of our tank because 4.8 Gallons will exactly reach the middle on the gas gauge , and it gives me 120 km in town and around 155 km on high ways

sorry to ask again but is this right or i am having a problem?

i made a boost leak and i have changed the plugs and the wires and my car runs fine ????????????
but why i am having only this mileage ????????
:confused::dsm:

Next time you fill up your tank from near-empty, just look at the pump and make a note of how many gallons it took to top it off (until the pump kicks off on its own). Also, zero your trip odometer at that point. Next time you fill up, compute your mileage. Do that every time, and you'll see what your mileage is like over many tanks of gas. Once you get into the habbit, you'll start to do head-calculations when you hit half a tank, etc., and you'll notice if your fuel economy is changing...atleast that's what I've found personally.

When cruising, you should get around 28mpg or higher. In-town driving will be more like 20-22mpg, but that can greatly depend on how high your boost is set and how hard you drive the car. But your current number show that you're way low.

You say, "i made a boost leak" which I don't understand. Did you mean that you boost leak tested your car? I'd guess that you may have a boost leak. This will kill your fuel economy. Pressurize to 20psi on a warmed-up motor and it should drop no more than 1psi every few seconds. If it's leaking down faster, you have boost leaks that you should fix.

There are a number of other reasons for poor fuel economy, but you can find them out by searching.:thumb:

EDIT: I know that AWD 2g cars have 12 gallon tanks and FWD cars hold more, but I don't know how much more. So 4.8gallons for half a tank seems low. Do the mileage stuff I mentioned above, and you'll know what the capacity of the tank is (fill it up to the top when it's almost empty, and you'll know roughly what the tank holds).

i made a boost leak and there was no leak at all :) thank god

but i am confused with the numbers ??? my meter reads KM and not mile and i dont know what do you mean by 28 MPG ( how do you measure it and its based on what?) is it per half tank ? and what is the maximum capacity of our Tanks ( my car is from JAPAN with japanese specs) and my speed meter also is in KM and its reads 180 KM as maximum :)

i know i am asking so many questions but its good to learn from you guys

thanks :dsm:

Ok you fill in gallons but drive in kilometer(thats weird using US standard units and metric units) so you should get about 34 Km per gallon of fuel, or 9 Km per liter(1 gallon = 3.78 liters). Also the fuel tank holds 16.9 gallons(63.8 liters) So your gauge is not working correctly(it should be at about 3/8 of a tank.

Also, MPG= miles per gallon(of fuel used)

thank you guys for the help , but really my car is imported from japan and everything on it is written in JAPANESE :) even the notice about the AIR BAG is in Japanese :)

my speed meter is maximum 180 KM and they put a speed limiter on 170 Km but i removed it :)

dont you think that Japan spec is different than US specs with regards to the Tank Size and consumption ?????
