Well I installed a ebay o2 dump and before I put the 02 sensor on I had to test it out. So I did..

Sounded mean, I got the turbo whistle sound and the loud rumble. This was with an extension put in too...\

After I put the o2 sensor in all that noise was gone. Any idea why?

umm because without the o2 sensor installed basically open exhaust leak. the wastegate dump only makes noise when its open under boost

The o2 sensor mounts to the exhaust pipe and not the dump pipe. The dump pipe is not metered and is sealed until the wastegate is opened.

You were just hearing the whirring of the turbine and a loud exhaust leak where the sensor was missing. The more open the exhaust the more you can hear the turbine. When my girl takes off in my car you can hear the big wheels really good when they first start to spin up. When i had a cat on it, you couldn't really hear it though. External dump O2's are pretty obnoxious, i'm about to route mine back into the DP once i feel like getting the shop warm enough with the propane heater to get under cold wet metal and start cutting and welding.

which ebay o2 did you get? any fitment issues?

The one with the black backround as the display pic. No fitmant issues at all, bolted right up.

Only thing you gotta worry about is if you have a 14b or something. The wastegate passage is a circle on the o2 dump rather than the bell shape.

Comes with bolts, nuts, and washers to replace the studs used to fit the o2 to the downpipe. I'll get a soundclip so y'all can check it out.

Btw, even on boost it sounds quite. 2 1/2" tbe, no cat, 14psi on a 14b, fmic, 190, etc.

Im thinking about getting a o2 dump for my car and i was thinking about how loud it would be...i seen plenty of videos... i was thinking if i were to redirect the dump to the drivers side bumper using the kit from jayracing.com would the sound be lower?? As opposed to the dump sound being bounced off the road and directed everywhere around??

i never seen the kit from jayracing.com but yes the longer the piping the quieter it will be.
