Galant vr-4 gauge temp sensor

I have a vr-4 1 prong coolant temp sending unit in my 1990 talon, I put it in becuase i had it laying around when i did the head re-build, is there a difference between the 2? im getting weird readings on my OEM temp on the cluster it says its really hot. My logger says its never going over 96C witch is normal operating temp.

Well the gauges are different in the vr4 so maybe the sensor is different.
