Hey guys, I just bought a 91 TSI AWD. It has an oil leak at the turbo return line, and doesn't appear to be all that bad, the only time you notice smoke is after the car is stopped. I was wondering if I could get it safely home like this(the drive is mostly interstate, about 150 miles. Could I just take some oil up with me and stop a few time along the way and make sure its o.k. on oil?Towing is a last resort, because the only vehicle capable of towing is my brothers GMC jimmy which "doesn't weight enough" according to u-haul. Must because of this:notgood:

*Edit* I dunno why i didn't think of this before posting, I could just replace it before driving down. So I'll call around the Chrysler dealerships and see if they have one tomorrow, but if they don't, would it be safe?

I just picked up a 1g awd and it had the same problemLOL Anyway, instead of buying a pipe, bring a 5/8" ID heater hose about 3-4" long and couple clamps and cut the leaky section and put the hose over it.... easy almost free fix. The previous owner told me it kept on cracking even after he put a new one on. I then later found the cause to be a very loose turbo, 1 of the bolts was gone, the remaining 3 were very loose which caused the return line to crack from the vibrations. Honestly Id just drive it home and pack a qt of oil unless its pouring out.

I also had this problem... You'll be fine as long as you keep your eye on it!!! Also, my cause of breaking those things was that the BS belt broke so it vibrated a lot, just something to think of, I got lucky and my BS belt didn't take out the timing belt. Simple fix, rear "SPADES" post. Good luck!!!

Yeah go easy on it, as long as you aren't humping on her, there won't be a ton of oil pressure just cruising.. Stop and fill it up every so often and there won't be any issues..

Thanks for replying guys, I'll just take it easy on her and make sure she stays full.:talon::rocks:

Where's the leak? If it's the flange on the sump, put crush washers under the bolt heads (please search that) and DO NOT STRIP THEM OUT.
If it's a cracked return pipe, replace it with some hose.
