Hi im pulling my 7-bolt and putting in a 6-bolt i bought that has no more then 2k miles on it and i was wondering what all things i should watch out for and problems i might have doing this kinda swap? I like to get it right the first time :D I know i will have to get a 6bolt FWD flywheel and i know there will be alot of Vac lines that arnt going to hook up right so i just cap them off? And any thing u guys might think of that i will need to do just let me know like do i have to do anything to the ECU? Thanks

You may want to take a look at the Magnus Motorsports 1Gina2G guide thats very very helpful. I am actually doing a swap now myself. Had some major set backs because vendors wont deliver my goods i pay for but anyways thats a different story different book.

good thing about my swap is it came out of a 95 gsx so it should be set up for a 2g car :D also the cas is already wired for a 2g.

where do u get the 1Gina2G guide ?

Spent all day pulling out the motor and tranny talk about a oily mess this motor had a major oil leak and so many many wires plugs and hoses i sure hope i can figer how they all hook back up. Good thing i did the swap found out the water pump had play in it and im sure it was about to crap out on me soon and the clutch was wore out as well and needed to be replaced but other then that it went pretty ez on the removel but like they always say its easier takeing something apart then putting it back togather again.

LOL you bet the headache is just starting man. Get us some pics. Im actually gonna clean off the carbon thats been built up in my head and port polish it Myself starting today! Good luck once more.

Hi what kinda oil do i put in the transmission cause when we pulled out the CV's some ran out and also the hydro fluid on the transmission some leaked out is this the same as brake fluid? and do i have to bleed that thing sence we unhooked it from the tranny?

thanks in advance

2.8 quarts of BG Synchro Shift II Transmission Fluid is a good stuff. As for the other info i am not to sure so i don't want to give you bad advice.

ok thanks i will head over and buy that stuff i know i have to goto auto parts store for the BG Synchro Shift II Transmission.

also what type of oil would u guys suggest i use? i have been useing the cheap walmart stuff of my 7-bolt but then again it leaked oil like crazy and i was'nt about to use the high $ stuff on it LOL

The leak is from my 7-bolt i might try and tear into it as a side job and fix it cause its eather a head gasket or a front main seal that leaks and also need to replace the water pump on that motor then have me a good high mileage motor.

The 6-bolt im putting in the car was used for about 1k miles sence the rebuild so i think its broke in :) also it came out of a 1995 so thats a + its already set up for a 2g :D

nice well that kills most of the break-in period. I would still take it easy for a little bit though just to be on the safe side until your comfortable at least. Good luck once more!

Well it was going good till i had to put the 2g motor mount on the 1g motor and ill be damed if we didnt mess the timmeing up but turning the pully so now where stuck as to how to set the timming on this thing. Any one have any guides to set the timming on a 6bolt and how hard it is to do? or should i take it to a pro and have them to do it?

ok got the timming set and got the transmission bolted to the motor but when u turn the motor its turns a little and stops dose this mean the transmission is in gear? cause i try all the gears and end up with the same results

In neutral, it should spin freely when turning the motor with no spark plugs in it. If there's a resistance point where it won't go any further with a moderate to light amount of force, then recheck teh timing because something like a valve is touching a piston in one of the cylinders

Did you have teh cams out of the head? I hadn't read all your details.. if you had the cams out and didn't bleed the lifters down then that would cause it even if it were correctly timed.

Let me know, I can tell you how to bleed em down if they werent and you had teh valvetrain even partially apart under the valve cover.

wel the motor spins freeley when the transmission was not on it so i know its not a pistion hitting a value. but after i put on the transmission it wont spin freely so i think its in gear cause it turns some then clanks inside so eather i didnt get the clucth lined up and im hitting or and i dont know how to get it to neutral. I used the clutch align tool so i belive the clutch is in line.

and i never had the cams off only reason it got out of time was cause i had to put the 2g motor mount on it :( if it wasnt for that i would not had touched the timming.

But i belive its set right i turn the motor 6 revolutions and every marked matched up to a T

ok took the tranny back off and alinged it again i could'nt get it any more aligned and when i turn the motor it still has some rub to it but its like it turns then rubs a bit then turns again dose this sound right or should it spin freeley

kinda feels like its the flaywheel rubbing

and also a 1 g 6-bolt flywheel dose work in a 2g FWD transmission?

Found out today my 1g CAS wont work on my 2g car i guess for some odd reason even though my CAS has the pigtail wires set up already that the 95-96s must be dif the the 97's so they won't work  so i guess i will have to buy a pigtail for the 97 model's

has any one else had this problem?

I'm working on mine now and the guide is helpful. If I where to do it again I wouldn't buy the "special" harness for the cas, just make one.
